I'm pretty darn sure this little lot didn't manage to score enough to bridge the gap in fact I'm certain I've fallen further behind. So it looks like it's between Hibster and Gilesy.

That's nothing - I conceded the title in September !!! :)

my closing team was as follows

niemi geremi hyppia neill o'shea

da silva kewell pires

henry beattie zola

we will see tomorrow!

My relegation battlers were at the end:

Carlo Cudicini Gary Neville Andy O'Brien Lauren Tony Hibbert Steed Malbranque Harry Kewell Steven Gerrard Ruud van Nistelrooy Alan Shearer Facundo Sava

My biggest problem this season has been injuries at the start of the season and then disastrous transfers. Signing Giggs when he was scoring every week - he stopped. Dropping Owen, he started scoring again. Biggest gaffe was droping Scholes the day before he started that scoring run !

don't forget there is the FA cup final to come on Saturday as well (you knew there was something big happening Saturday didn't you Tim  ) so the final scores will be next week, not tomorrow

Soccer A.M. suggest a Southampton victory; historical patterns already in place.

I'd like to stick a tenner on the Le Tissier's but unfortunately it would be a very unlikely event if The Sammy's were to outgun the Gun Boats.

Nothing beats Boro in the FA Cup Final - we'd only waited 118 years for that small Italian bloke to blow a beauty passed us on 18 seconds to ruin everyone's day. The relegation a week later topped the season off nicely.

My lot -

S Given J Terry M Keown W Brown Geremi R Giggs H Kewell F Fernandes T Henry R van Nistelrooy N Anelka

I think Given, Anelka and Kewell are the only players I've stuck with the entire season, mind. I even put in Giggs in place of Jensen last weekend, just as Jensen went and scored against ManYoo! Doh.

You haven't heard of Da Silva Al? - isn't he the Brazilian left back for the Gundogs?

Anyone upset at the departure of the Hammerites?

That was Silvinho, no?

Cleared it up with the Hibster - he meant Gilberto Silva. Unlikely-to-ever-score-again donkey midfielder of said Gundogs. He said he needed someone 'cheap'.

Nope, don't really care about West Ham. Knows lots and lots of Hammers so found the result most amusing. Academy, my arse!

I can't recall another team as full of decent players being relegated in recent years (except Boro with Juninho, Emerson, Ravanelli, Schwartzer, The Hulk, Captain America etc.). Seems a bit of a shame.

Funniest is Sunderland (the town) who released a promotional TV advert which had the signature tune of 'Go West' accompanied by a chorus of 'Nice One Sunder-land' (Go West) 'Nice One Sunder-land' to a backdrop of local scenery and townsfolk 'having a laugh' etc. Nice timing!

do you mean david duchovny when he played for chelsea?

Di Matteo Hibster.

He's the buzzard that kicked one past us before we'd even had chance to run out of position and start panicking.

thats the fella - look at their faces - its the same person (or am i thinking of dan pet rescue?)

Daniel Pet Rescue was the Duchovny X-File look-a-like that's for certain sir. Di Matador was the Italian miniature who had a somewhat smarmy grimace. They did look quite similar, except D Duchovny had mousey brown hair and looked like Daniel Petrol Container from the Exquisite Filing System, resplendent with longish stout nose and close eyes, whereas Tippy Mat Monkey had jet black hair covered in chip oil, olive skin you could bake a potato on and was about 14 years older than D DeShoveMuttle. Both were of similar height, around 4 yards between them.

In a fight Manty Stout would probably win as D Duchovny looked a little tame and too nice for punching.

Of note, Di Bat Sniffer retired early and Terry Duck Oil is now plying his trade on a disused oil tanker off the coast of Turkey.
