I found my grades over the internet a few weeks ago, and I did pretty decent, considering I slept through almost a full semester of my writing class, and skipped two weeks of French. And for what? So I could stay up, listening to NO, watching Gravitation until 3AM, and talking to a semi-girlfriend in Brooklyn, miss my first 3 classes, and fall asleep right through writing, although I managed to write some darn good papers on topics I never discussed in class. Of course, that's the beauty of poetry - any opinion is right, as long as you can back it up.

Well done, Liam. I note you are 19 and have been a fan of New Order since 1987. You must have been the most discerning 3 year old to toddle this planet! Out with the dummy and in with True Faith!

Must have been some parental influence there then! Are they still fans?

Dont think so. Not sure if they ever were, substance is on vinyl in the cupboard and ceremony on vinyl was there until i stole it and stuck the sleeve on my wall. I think it was the wonders of magic 1152. The greatest local radio station in the world.

No, i just had 5 11 blaring out abotu twenty minutes ago and was told to turn it down. :-( . So, minimal parental influence then. It was my own judgement :-)

shame about that ... I sure hope I can still enjoy it at high volume in years to come... My kids are only wee but already appreciating NO's finest; having said that, one of them still thinks they're called Blue Monday :D

Well done on passing your exams :thumb:

Amazingly, I didn't flunk out, after sleeping through study period, and thereby not studying at all for my exams-all due to depression over a love interest-and turning a paper in VERY late. Still made it through the semester.

Posting on NOOL beats the pressure of :violent: pending school work every time!

Whoa.. 1987? I was 3 as well in '87, but my parents didn't own a tape or record player that worked, although they had a TV, a 12" B&W set. They used to have a stack of vinyls and an old turntable that stopped working in 1985, but most of the stuff they had was '70s music, although mostly I remember that the soundtrack to American Graffiti was always on top. Of course, its never too early to discover NO.

Many thanks to all those who have passed on their congratualtions.

On the young new order fan thing (and surely this is :topic: ?) i definitely remember demanding the day song (True Faith, as i called it then) to be played at my 5th birthday party in 1988. Unfortunately, we never had it on single :( .

Back in the present. My younger siblings are progressing at a slower rate. the eldest, aged 4, likes 10000 maniacs, and has be known to go in my room and stick on the MTV unplugged album, while the youngest shouts "MORRISSEY!" every time i ask who someone is in a Magazine or book.

I did have them dancing to Technique in April though...
