I registered a long while ago, but for some reason never started posting until now.

I've been into JD/NO since I was about 14 (I'm 23 now - my b-day is May 22, 1980 - weird, in'it?)...nice to have a place to talk about all things related to them.

Another contestant for the Ian Curtis reincarnate competition then?

:hi: Welcome Poptone, help yourself to drinks from the fridge and make yourself comfy! Hope you enjoy it!

Just a word to the wise: Don't start threads on "Ceremony"'s ownership, be careful and sparing with the words "Depeche", "Cure" and "Mode" and do not trust people called Ozymandias.

I think that's all.

One has to ask....whats so weird about the 22nd May 1980?

... the day Ian died Blue.

Which just goes to prove my theory that 1 in 24 people share the same birth day. Surely a vindication on the thread ignited a while back by Seagull Peter Stevens.

18 May 1980?

22 May 1980 was the day my Mother died. And 22 May 2002 was the day my Daughter was born. Now THATS a co-incidence. In fact, I think I might start a thread about it...

Ian did die on the 18th, hence Chris's remark that he could be Ian's reincarnation

(Karma Bureaucracy being what it is they need atleast three days for screening, reassignation, testing and double checking, however since Ian committed suicide that must have made him no favours with the Karma Police and he's probably come back as a vegetable or a member of Al Fayed entourage)

Poptone is not Ian reincarnated let's settle that once and for all.

I'm not sure he died Blue, but he probably changed shade slightly. He'd been dead 4 days by May 22nd. May 22nd 1980 was also the day that one of my family first went to the USA, not that it has ever held any significance.

Now this is a coincidence. I have just this minute returned from another firm of Solicitors where I noticed in the reception area a large cardboard box with the legend "Ian Cutis retained papers" written on the outside. I sidled over and began to open the box but before I could see inside I was interrupted. So now I will never know but I will forever wonder!

26 people in this office and none share the same birth day but that of course is the exception which proves the rule. I'll sack 2 and see if it makes a difference.

And what of Seagull Peter Stevens? No sightings? He might turn up at the BSP gig tonight....BUT....Chris Campbell was posting yesterday. Welcome back, Sir.

WelCome

I was married on May 18. Everyone thought I planned that on purpose.

Well I was married on May 17th, on purpose. Couldn't do the 18th as it was a Sunday.

I will claim to be the reincarnation of Jimmy Hendrix as I was born only 8 (yes, I said only eight) days after his death.

WOW! WHAT A COINCIDENCE!

Perhaps I will have to omit the fact that I can't play guitar to get more credibility...

i was born the same day that bobby hutton died & the same day that world famous australian high jumper chris anderson was born. he ws famous for jumping over 24 people. probably.

Hi Poptone, I always make much of the fact that the first line of "1963" goes "it was January, 1963 ..." My date of birth is January, the seventh, 1963. Barney said one time, he is influenced by the thoughts of his listeners or something like that, when writing. I can really relate to the domestic horrors described in the song, though in my family there were no guns involved - i won't go into details, lets stick to art and artists and New Order. Nevertheless: long live coincidences!

If I'm recalling my Mozza history correct, didn't the Fey One make his debut on May 22 as well? (1959, I believe)?

Sheila, take a bow :spin:

Oh, and welcome, Poptone! :hi:

Welcome.

I share my birthday with a bloke called Barney Sumner, who happens to be lead singer with a band who happen to be pretty good! Although Barney's got a few years on me.

I also like a band who used to have Vince Clarke in it, but he then left & was replaced by Alan Wilder, who also left. But as per Budvar's suggestion, I'll use the words in the band's name VERY sparingly, i.e. not at all.:D
