i need to get hold of a copy of ms powerpoint in the next couple of days to install on my home pc (i have broadband connection)

why not upgrade to Mr. Powerpoint - like Ms. Powerpoint but much more logical ;)

I can e-mail it to you as a zipped file.

Not sure if you need any codes to instal it, if so it's unlikely I'd be able to find them.

Mine is win98 SE version.

downloaded ok, but when i double click on powerpoint.exe i get the following

Error Starting Program

A requred .DLL file, MS09.DLL wast not found

Buh? think you need techie help beyond my meagre capabilities. If it's anything to do with the codes, I can have a dig around but I'd definitely be exploring other avenues if I were you.

Get a MS Office CD, then install it... as simple as that ;)

There is no standalone installation since version 95 I think.. I might be wrong.

You can get the VIEWER on Microsoft's website, but you need a Office CD to install the real deal..
