November?!?!?!...where do you live?...I got my copy this week, but I havent read it yet...havent really read any of them...I know someone important dies in this one, the said that on the news....hhmmmmm, wonder who it could be

Never read any HP books, and doubt if I'll bother. Stupid I know, but seeing clips of the movies puts me off. As the ad (sort of) said last year, "When it comes to wizards, I don't deal with apprentices", so I'll stick with Gandalf & co.

just finished it this evening. fantastic.

I've never bothered with either the books or the movies. I'm just waiting for JD Salinger to write another novel, but I doubt that'll ever happen.

when the first four came out i had no interest in reading them, as i don't read fantasy novels or mass fiction and, frankly, i was sick and tired of hearing about the whole phenomenon. however, one day i was in dire need of something to read and i decided, 'what the hell, i'll try harry potter and the philosopher's stone.' it was on sale, anyway. basically, i couldn't put it down and i didn't rest until i had finished the next three. they're brilliantly written and i'm so glad i got over my initial disinterest and bought that first novel. they're modern classics.

in short, this is one 'hype' that is definitely worth the attention!

Little Miss Haçienda recieved the book last saturday am (you should have seen her Dad picking it up - 12.01am sat am and pissed as a fart - scared all the kids in Asda ) due to her being a bridesmaid at wedding on sat she didn't finish till sunday afternoon but said it was best one soo far !!! (did anyone else pick up on JK's hatred of the tabloids ??? Daily Prophet ?? )

i read it as the daily prophet being the official 'government' paper, and the quibbler (the only paper willing to believe the true story about the return of voldemort) as the 'tabloid.' in other words, the establishment was hiding the truth from the people in order to protect the jobs of those in the ministry of magic and their monetary backers (some of whom are death eaters), while the quibbler had nothing to lose, really, since nobody believed its stories anyway! kind of a 'men in black' thing: finding out the truth actually involved the suspension of disbelief and looking to the most ridiculous sources for information.

I haven't read the Harry Potter books but my nine year old niece has read all five. Anything that gets kids interested in reading instead of watching tv or playing video games is a good thing in my opinion.

Just finished the new one. Can't beleive who's died in it. Great book!

Was down the bookshop at 1 in the morning on release day. It was kinda inevitable that people would roll out of the pub and head on down, really.

I must say it's a damn good read though. A whole lot darker than previous efforts.

Books?! I'm on summer break, who needs to read? :D
