Who really watches Wimbledon for the high standard of tennis on show?

i used to tune in just for the witty banter between sue and john mc but since i discovered the wonderful world of woman my tastes have changed for the better. shame anna always gets knocked out before the 2nd week!

I enjoy the grunting sounds as two women battle it out for dominance.

Ah yes, that's a very good reason indeed. :) Unfortunately, you reminded me of a gawdawful Susan Anton tennis flick from the early 80's called Spring Fever. Thank God I worked at the theater and saw it for free, cause it's really, really, really bad, and if I'd paid for it, I would've been upset. There were about 15 people in the theater, and when we quickly realized how bad this movie was, the only entertainment left was for all of us to grunt aloud in time with the tennis action on the screen, and leave us all in laughter (it was supposed to be a drama). Best audience participation that I've been in this side of Rocky Horror, but if there was, ummm, audience participation for the midnight showings of the Emmanuelle movies, I sure as hell didn't want to know about it

I watch Wimbledon for the same reason every other man does: I watch the women grunting, Serena's ass spilling out of her skirt, and watching the men play bad tennis in order to laugh at them. The only man's tennis player I follow is Agassi, well sometimes I used to follow Ivanisevic and Kuerten, but they r washed up, but Ferrero is interesting to watch because of his crazy style.

i suppose i'm an anomaly, but i actually DO watch tennis for the action! of course, when a hot man is playing it does help... of course, the serves and volleys are so fast now in the men's game they can't improve all that much so the women's game is the one to watch. however, as i am not a lesbian, i don't 'enjoy' it in the same way you fellows do!

Woohoo!

My college girlfriend was a lesbian.

I'm watching Wimbledon for the swearing before the watershed. It's big and it's clever. Plus McEnroe's banter can be quite funny. I'm not missing Anna Kournikova this year. Although she has a fetching athletic body she has the face of Boris Yeltsin. I happened to catch sight of this new Russian sensation Sharapova on Saturday and even said "Ding Dong" out loud in a Leslie Phillips fashion. Surely the press are going to go mad for her before too long. As for Tadpole Tim, I've given up hope. I can't see there ever being another British Wimbledon champion. It's gone on too long now and the pressure and national expectation is too much for anyone to bear. The nation grinds to a halt even when he makes it to just a quarter final.

Ok, I've seen the picture now. I wish I'd never read that Yeltsin comparison. But if you just look at their eyes & nose and ignore the rest (if that's possible) then they are scarily similar.

The Tiger Tim nickname is ridiculous, Tadpole is more apt. This Henman Hill thing is ridiculous too. I expect if a Brit was to reach the final they would get a tube station named after them. If they went as far as to win it then a city would be renamed, so desperate is this need for a British winner in something, anything.

I'd serve and volley with her anytime she wanted!! ;)

I agree TigerTim is a completely innapropriate name and Henman Hill is just stupid....

According to our trusty tabloids David Nalbandian (the guy Tims playing next) had a BUS STOP named after him in his country after his achievements in making the final last year, so If Tim gets their (incredibly unlikely) he may yet get his name on the map (literally!!)

Not a bad wee topic little Cuz - Tennis has been gash fer ages (pun naturally intended) Mens tennis has been shite since the days of Edberg, Becker, Stich. The excitement and personality has all but gone from the mens game. The Birds on the other hand has been magic, several tasty russian birds, Barabra Schett, Hingis, Dokic.....fuckin hell, I'd even shag the Williams sisters:nod:

Best bit about Wibmledon is the Sun's build up, where it shows you all the tasty shots of birds knickers up their arse:D
