If I could change my name, even though I love my name, I would change it to Vladimir, or maybe Seneca.
If you could, how would you change your name?

I'd change it to James, so then people could call me Jimbo and I could sit out on the porch of my shack all day drinking Southern Comfort and staring at the sun while aiming my shotgun at squirrels so's to have somethin' fer supper. YEEE-HAA!!
I thought I had a reasonably simple name and I am quite happy with it and do not wish to change it. However, many people apparently disagree and actually have changed it. So over the past few years I have kept a list of all the different variations of the spelling of my name that has appeared in print. Here goes.

Oh so much better than NY or Seattle. No drunken football yobboes to contend with! It rained a bit but that only helped to get me off the beach and into the cocktail bar to take advantage of the free melonballs. Went on a cruise and I swear I saw Barney on his yacht. He was trying to get someone to walk the plank. Think it might have been Bono. I could say its nice to be back but...its nice to be back!!
Well my surname has basically come to be used as a US slang from one's nether regions, although it's actually derived from an ancient Gaelic word meaning "brave (or mighty) warrior", so I'd just revert to the native version - "O hAodhnaigh".
I ain't making this up...

Yes, thanks for that Ricardo. I think thats an original misspelling so I'll add it to the list. Number 121 in the sequence. Much appreciated.

is the butt considered part of one's nether regions? if so, when did this happen and why didn't i get a memo?
even so, look on the bright side: at least your name isn't "dick assman" like that guy in canada that dave letterman had on his show a few years back.
I've already changed my name to Jesse from Iren. I honestly hate my name - I really do, since no one really pronounces it correctly. But, somehow friends started calling me the name Jesse after a charater in this play I wrote a few years ago and it stuck. I would've prefered Vladislav or Vlad instead, but no one could really pronounce it well enough.

tristan's an awesome name, so no need to change it!
as for me, i wish i had a 'cool' sounding name, like rowan, audrey, or, well, tristan.
thank god i wasn't named tiffany or brittany, though.
i named my cat "Persephone" (per-SEF-fony). i think she now resents me and wants to change it to something more like "mittens."

iren is actually a sweet name! see no reason to dislike it.
my name is pretty generic, so there.
i wouldn't change my name (even after the horror of grade school and being referred to as "peein' iain") but have had it changed by others. I get Lain a lot (L instead of I) but the best was when I got an invitation from Teen magazine or Young Ms. to subscribe to their magazine. Somehow my name had become Ebony, so instead of being a 29 yr old white male I'm actually a teenage black girl. I apologize to all for the deception and any resulting pain and suffering I may have caused.
