I hear that England is in the midst of a heat wave, but for the love of all that is good, it's 109 here in Dallas...I went to lunch with a friend today, and even with my A/C at full blast, I was still sweating like a virgin at a prison rodeo...
so what's the weather like where you are? and how are you dealing with it...I'm thinking about trying to crawl into the refrigerator, after I suck down all the Foster's Bitter that's in it!
i just saw on the news that with the heat index our temp was like 114!!!!...im going to stay inside and fill my tub with ice water and go for a swim 
it can't be more than 85 or so here... i am just wearing shorts & sandals, thinking about a nice pacifico after work.
its been pretty sweaty times in alberta, too. i generally just drink lots of water. etc. etc.

yes but at least you get a nice breeze from the ocean....we are not lucky enough to get that...but on the up side.....unlike our Brit friends, almost everyone in Texas has airconditioners in their homes, offices, and cars
oh god...i didnt even think about what it must be like on/in the tube......ugh, that must suck!!!...but global warming is just a myth the hippys made up....right?!?!?
Oddly enough Jeff, the weather was even hotter the first of the next week after y'all went back to Texas, with our area going over 100, three days in a row, very unusual. Now, it's back to the normal 85 degrees every day, with little humidity, the perfect weather(we won't talk about the rainy fall, winter and spring).
Glad to see yer still putting back the bitter, gonna have a couple here in a bit.
What the hell is going on with this crazy weather? 
This is the hottest winter I can remember. Right now the window of my room is opened and I'm wearing only shorts and a t-shirt. Just to have an idea, the winter in São Paulo is supposed to be like the autumn in, say, London.
We've got it pretty easy by comparison. Mid-20's celcius (too lazy/stupid to convert to Fahrenheit). Although, I've just got home from 7 1/2 hours working in 32-36 celcius, which was a bit of a pain in the arse. Oh well, 2 more nights, then 2 weeks off.
Which means it's gonna piss rain for a fortnight from next weekend.

It's fricking cold in Liverpool. Heatwave my arse we've been stuck under a funking great big cloud sine Monday(which was bloody hot).
First day we've had cloud here in a while also, which is a nice relief.
We were frying eggs in the car park on Tuesday, after someone remembered seeing the late great Roy Castle perform the same stunt on the Grand Canyon floor back in the eighties.
Yeah - cooler today here in Cheshire likewise - but once the sun breaks through, it's frying time once again!
The tarmac in Macc town centre melted on Wednesday! Wonderful chaos ensued! Oh happy happy joy joy!

We've had a relatively mild summer here in NYC. A couple of mini heat waves over 90, but otherwise, hi 70s to upper 80s max. This week has been miserable with thunderstorms and humidity that makes you feel like you're swimming thru soup.
But after a f*cking harsh ass winter with endless snow and cold, and a spring/early summer with rain almost every single day and temps that never got as high as they should have been, a miserable oppressive summer would have been a slap in our collective faces. So I'm ok with a pretty heat stroke-free summer.
It's been about 80-odd degrees where I am for the past few days; shame I have to work instead of lying about in the sun like I'd rather be doing. Grrr!

If you were here, you wouldn't want to go in the sun : it's bloody unbearable. I thank my lucky stars I DO have to go to work, my air-cond. office is a paradise at the moment. The kids have done a rain dance today (whilst in the pool) I HOPE IT WORKS we're just not used to this !

This "ocean breeze" left me on my own on the road a few weeks ago. It oxidized my car engine, and now my refrigerator. It's a curse, not a bless!!!
don't know what the official temp was here in Dallas today, but the thermometer at work today crawled up to 113...it was so hot, I only went outside to smoke twice today...maybe this heat wave will save my lungs...
but hell, I wish it would go away!
I'm off work next week, and it will probably be too damn hot to do anything!!!!!

We at Barcelona have had a heat wave for nearly a month now, the heat is componded by the humidity, almost unbearable. Apparenly it had never been so hot and for so long since 1982, also the water temperature is about 30 degrees which is the highest for the past century.
I blame biological farms and vegetarians. We are not eating enough meat to avoid the cows from releasing their methane laden farts in the atmosphere. Bloodie veggies, so much to answer for!
The last few weeks in my neck of the woods, it seems a pattern has developed: Nice, beautiful sunshine, a bit warm, early on, then a few storm clouds gather and by mid-afternoon (usually just after lunch) a bit of rain, varying in severity, followed by a humid early evening. I swear, every single day it seems to go like that, enough to drive a man to drinking....
My sympathies to you Euro-types going through the heat wave, though I have a feeling we're in for the same thing over here (especially in the South) now that the calender has turned to August.
