I was at work when some guy came in mentioning something about "glad we're not up north" because of some sort of blackout. I thought he was drunk.....I guess I was wrong (still, he did seem like a heavy drinker)
It can't be too dark up there yet, it's 7PM where I'm at and the sun's still out. 
powers on here. i am in the southwest. it is 4pm here and the sun won't be down until 8 or so... no worries.

Yeah LA is perfectly fine; I'm just watching the herds of stranded ppl in New York on CNN
do you remember 6 or seven years ago when all the power in the west went out? california to colorado? that was fucked up.

No, 'cause I'm in Philadelphia, which is a 2 hour driving distance from New York. But there was a blackout here on Tuesday, and I got called off work :D:D:D

I heard the problem started in New York, and within three minutes twenty one plants shut down
what was funny about it:
the NYC major talking to all newyorkers by TV to unplug the electronic devices so when the light is back won´t affect again the power.
ok, now read what i wrote again. yeah, he speaked by TV!!!!! how in hell people would know he said that if they can´t turn on their TVs? somebody please explain this to the major!!!!

I tried calling him, but it appears he won't speak to real footballers...but seeing as how most of us over here get our news from the telly...how else would he get the word out?!?! on another note, I think he might have meant heavy appliances...refrigerators...air conditioning, things that use a little more electricity than the television...but I could be wrong...

Gnu Odor starring in 16 Hours Later; shades of The Stand.
My power was off for 16 hours. I caught the last working train home yesterday, then noticed that all the traffic lights were out on the walk home.
Fortunately I left work early and avoided a night in the elevator.
19 hours and the power in NYC is still mostly off. First time since we moved that I'm happy I live in the 'burbs. Took me 8 hours (yes, EIGHT) to get home last night. Little slice of heaven over here.
Toronto, Cleveland, Detroit, Ottawa, Buffalo, Albany all still out or mostly out.

so you couldn't post here then lads! Nice to see all those NEW YORKERS on my telly again.They have learnt to walk!:D.Now befriend a NUN cos they have all the candles. Seroiusly(as if) this must be the longest most you have even been without power.Now here we used to have nice MINER'S STRIKES in the early 70's and so couldn't go to school.Trouble is when the strike finished we were so poor we still used bloody candles,made toast on the coal fire and waited for the NEW YORK DOLLS do something better than JET BOY/VIETNAMESE BABY...still waiting.
THE GOOD OLD DAYS FOLLOWED BY COME DANCING.
Then i found my real parents had sneaked out during the blackout and left me in the care of the COMMUNITY...and i am still here!;)
The best event yesterday was watching Ashleigh Banfield report from her cell phone. In California news a part of Caltech was on fire, so was a part of downtown LA
I haven't even bothered to turn on the TV to watch anything about the blackout. As long as it doesn't spread south, I honestly don't care.
i wish there was more camera footage shot during the hour of the blackout...especially in toronto. or on the highways....or maybe there are but i'm not watching the news long enough....oh well.

It can't be me.. Quebec has an isolated electric system (like Texas) !!!!
We have the power.. (as a matter of fact, we do!! all hydroelectric power!! we're the electric pusher of Ontario & New York as we speak )
We learned our lesson in 1999 with the massive ice storm, when most people of the Montreal area had one week without power IN THE WINTER, meaning freezing a lot :D
Fortunatly, I only missed it back them for 1 day...! then I rushed back out of town to get back to university, where there was power!
the problem apparently started in cleveland. so it's all Gnu's fault
i was thirty seconds away from getting trapped in an elevator here at school. the lights in it flickered but luckily it opened. it then stayed open when the power went off. my power came back on about seven or eight hours later
