Glasgow, Bellahouston Park, July 1st?

From the front page of today's local rag "The Evening Times".

Coldplay have just announced a 30,000 capacity gig at said location. Geoff Ellis (DF and TITP promoter) promises other "massive acts" to be announced. Same article states...

"Another top band heading to Scotland in July is New Order, who will be headlining Stage 2 at T In The Park."

Reckon a New Order support slot is more than likely. Unless somebody tells me they're already in Berlin that day or summat! I shall do some digging and be back with any info......

Incidentally, the only other big event to be held at Bellahouston (which is literally five mins from my hoose)was The Papal Visit in 1982!!! Another great gig which I've got fond memories of!

Incidentally, the New Order appearance at TITP is now officially listed on their website. The "drip drip" of line-up information is fascinating. They were booked yonks ago!

It's all contractual bullshit is it not? Robin Guthrie from the Cocteaus was still issuing "we will never get back together" statements 48 hours before their appearance at Coachella was officially announced. He confessed later that this was part of the agreement with the promoters....

Don't know if this is worth anything, but in the Metro today there was a short bit on the Coldplay gig, which finished by saying New Order are believed to have been lined up as support.

If this was confirmed before tickets go on sale on Saturday I'd be right in there. But what if I take the chance and this turns out not to be true? Then I'm left with an expensive ticket for Coldplay in some big fucking field on what is Bo'ness Fair Day...which would be a nightmare! (Could always sell for profit though...)

are they to suport for the whole tour? (all 3 dates or whatever it is)

New Order supporting Coldplay??? What a shame! Should be the other way round.

I don't think Coldplay will sell out 30,000 tickets for a gig in Glasgow the week before T In The Park. I've no doubt it will sell out eventually but not on the first day. Although I might be completely wrong!

i really hope they are supporting them.i've just been talked into buying a spare ticket a mate had for the coldplay gig at bolton's ground "the breezeblock" about 5 minutes ago before i read this,he got four from the presale off their website,this would be a real bonus as i think coldplay are a bit shite really

Not as much of a joke as supporting Robbie Williams in Cologne and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in Dublin as they did in 2001.

They are now playing on the second as well, i have just bought tickets for coldplay - i never thought i would say that. New Order better be fucking supporting.
