Does anyone have any info on the rumour that New Order are supporting Coldplay? I have bought tickets for the show in glasgow,which hurts me very much as Coldplay are shite. I heard a few rumours a couple of weeks ago but nothing since, am i going to have to sell the tickets?

Er, at Glastonbury.
coldplay have announced the support acts, interpol, supergrass, couple of others depending on venue - none of them are new order.
check their web site (they're bound to have one) or nme for details as to who is at glasgow.
The Glasgee gig is July 1.
NO are in Belgium the day before and Italy the day after so its unlikely.
You'll have no problem shifting the ticket.
I posted about this on the old thread on the old forum. It's Supergrass for Glasgow I'm afraid. Juy 1st has sold out but theres still tix for July 2nd.
Coldplay and Interpol at the same gig, not bad... I'm still pissed I missed The Cure and Interpol at Curiosa last year, but still... interesting.
I now hope they will do the support when Coldplay will stop in Montreal, Sebastien & I and a few friends agreed to go...

Almost puts me off going to Glasto, knowing that the audience during NO's set will be full of Coldplay fans...

Dull performers with celebrity wives, lacklustre audience generating no atmosphere (probably all rich southerners). Had their prawn sandwiches while waiting for the main act.

I certainly don't listen to Coldplay to dance to...they are not in that genre. They are definitely a good "downtempo" group...No matter what you think, which is wrong, coldplay is a great band...they have a huge following (much bigger than NewOrder nowadays...) and they will sell millions of albums when they release their new record...Unfortunately, we cannot say the same for Neworder...
I also resent you comparing coldplay to the turgid crap played on MTV...yes, MTV is a total bullshit station...they put out shite from artists like "Ashley Simpson" and "Avril Lavigne"...Coldplay really didn't get a lot of airplay on that station other than them playing "The Scientist" a few times during the 0.0000001 percent of the day that they actually play videos...

I didn't mind much about ColdPlay until I saw a comment Bernard did on them, then I bought their latest album and sincerly fell in love with 2 songs from that album, being The Scientist and Clocks (although this one always reminds me of U2)
Sure, they are not yet to the level of having a complete album full of great songs, but they have their moments... but the future looks pretty bright for this band, so I'll be happy to buy their 3rd album when it comes out (June or May? I'm not sure anymore)
Since I don't live in England, all I can relate to is their music... I know sure that Chris Martin is dating Gwenneth Paltrow, but that is not really an issue... and Chris Martin has also the habit of singing with his eyes closed just like Bernard :p
But musically, I prefer Rush Of Blood To The Head to Parachutes.. and I hope the 3rd one will be an improvement... and home they won't do like Radiohead, I was not too please going from OK Computer to Kid-A....

and quite a few others. My patronage of Radiohead's diverse adventures has continued even though I didn't care much for Hail To The Thief, and you will of course find all The Fall's latest product sat on my CD shelves.
As for Coldplay, the sadly fall into the category of Q/Rollingstone reader fodder, hyped up by the record company beyond belief and certainly beyond their capacity to inspire. Turgidplay is honestly about right.

OldMonkey, I certainly like your list of bands...especially Keane and The Thrills. I was totally blown away when I owned the Thrills album for a few months or so and found out there weren't even from California!!...Dublin, no less???!!! Very weird...every song on their first album is a salute to the surf lifestyle of Southern California...
I jumped on the INDIE bandwagon with Franz as well, but I wasn't blown away by every song on their albu.
Who is making fun of KEANE???They are a great band. Every song on "Hopes and Fears" is excellent! Bend and Break is a gem of a track...
Oldmonkey...do you like "The Stills?" they are one of my favorite new bands as well...

Are you kidding me?? You didn't like "Kid A"....I was like you were I initially hated "kid a" because, face it, after Ok Computer, you can only go down from there (that was a masterpiece of an album)...but Kid A grew on me and now I love it even more than OK Computer...
You cannot beat the tracks, "Everything in it's right place", "Idioteque (crowd favorite at their gigs), "Morning Bell", "Optomistic", and the driving bassline of "The National Anthem"...what an awesome album...shame on you for not liking it, Spotnick...shame on you!!!!
Amnesia is also a KID A2 type of album that is almost as good....
