Got mine. 60 euro + 3 euro booking. (somewhat better than your normal UK box office rip off fee )

ATR has booked for me and Al, somewhere near the festival site apparently. La Rambla is a top place to stay. Stopped there with Leeds Utd when we were in Champs league. Six lads in one room, which had a nice aroma in the morning as you can imagine.

go to Barca metro and click L4 - the site is at El Maresme | Fòrum Station, so any where along the line is a good bet for a hotel - Hotel Rialto for instance is only stumbling distance from the Ramblas and bang on the metro - Hotel Rialto

I am flying from Brussels to Barna on Friday afetrnoon (God help the airline if they dare reschedule the flight!!!!). So the place is the Irish place off the Ramblas, I know where that is, it is actually quite close to the Fantastic my favourite bar in BCN. But what time will it be? Do you intend to watch Iggy, I quite like the old man but I´ve found that I lost any interest in any other music before or after the Order, so I´d rather have dinner and some beers with you lads.

For those of you who are staying over the weekend I strongly recommend the AGUA, a restaurant looking over the beach. Very nice, not awfully expensive.

Who else is coming? Rocket? Don? Iain?

It´s averaging a blissful 25-26 degrees. If it´s anything like this at Hyde Park I´ll be wearing the same shit eating grin I am right now!! Strangely, they don´t seem to be playing the biggest stage, despite them bein the main attraction (according to the bold prnt on the t-shirts anyways). Not that you´ll get any complaints from me, mind. Arcade Fire were great last night: only downer is that the Order virtually clash with American Music Club and Kristin Hersh. Bugger.

Hrm, they did move True Faith up in the setlist to keep the NRG level going before the ballad...a small change like that probably did quite a bit of good, it seems.

Excellent gig. Hats off to the Spanish/Catalan crowd who played a big part in making the show so enjoyable. The venue and setting were top notch too. A top weekend with top company.

Just fell out of the plane, back from a really great gig! Somehow I managed to get to the second row, jumping around the whole concert ... my bones are still hurting Met Danny, but lost him before the gig started, cos he had to leave for some reason (Hope you re-gained a good place). Actually I didn't hear much of the Order, maybe because the crowd (incl. me) was singing along every single line of the songs, even the new ones, or maybe the sound was too sh... My girl-friend was in the back (where the seats where), and said the sound for the first two or three songs was great but rapidly dropped, so that you almost couldn't here Barney anymore. All I was hearing was a rumbling bass sound, no trebles, really muddy sound (- why don't they hire a professional sound engineer?). But nevertheless definitely the best gig of them I've seen. Still dancing and singing.

Anyone mentioned it? Atmosphere was on the setlist, but not played. Stood next to the guy who fetched the list.

Best time in years for me... I saw all my life while this tunes sounds with the mediterranean sky over us. Thanks to New Order. Thanks to all of you.

One more thing: the concert was NOT in "Poble Espanyol" as the concert browser http://neworderonline.com/Live/Concert.aspx?ConcertID=680 says, it was in "Forum 2004". "Poble Espanyol" is on Montjuic, "Forum 2004" is some kilometres away at the harbour.

There must be thousands of pictures as literally everyone (except of me) had a digicam. There was no security check at the entrance so you could sneak everything in... Well, I didn't... was too afraid of being sent back due to my minidisc and camera, fool I am.

Ow, bitchy! They DO have a professional sound engineer! And a top bird she is too. Sorry, no offence intended. I wouldn't have cared about the sound, cos you're certainly right about the sound vs. positioning-relation, and it really doesn't matter that much when you're jumping around and everyone around you is singing (or screaming ) along . But my Mrs was standing at a point where I would expect the sound to be a bit more brilliant, and she said it was really awful. The first two tracks were sounding great, the rest was getting really sh*** So I suspected that something went wrong. Anyway, great gig that was!

Great gig indeed, I think they were in great shape although Barney looks older (Hooky on the other hand is getting younger al the time).

I was later than expected so I could not meet many people beforehand and neither could I understand where Shugster was telling me he was. Anyway I experienced something completely different, a NO concert with only a couple of beers inside. They're still quite good and my pogo was massively improved.

Pity since I would have enjoyed meeting up with more of you lads. Sorry I missed Daniel Wengorz whom I met at the Olympia)

And after several hours we finally bumped into Budvar right at the front of the crowd.

The gig itself was "Shit Hot" we got battered to within an inch right down the front, started off in front of Hooky with Al, Mark, Greg, Ness, Gary, Gordy and Alex and ended up in front of Barney after the first song or two. Being a short arse I held onto DoN for me life. The set has been mentioned, and as I was the soberist I have ever been at a gig, I can actually remember quite a bit of it. The band were ace and so were the fans. I am looking forward to hearing this on a bootleg. I do remember getting told to "Shut the fuck up" by Gary for my terrible singing along during Blue Monday

The only pity was not meeting up with Frads, dunno what you did with my number mate, cos everyone else had nae bother getting through. I will be in touch for Hyde Park

Yep, I dunno how I managed to miss you all either. You all need to get football tops with yer monickers on like Stash - very helpful when a bit tipsy. Still had a great weekend: fantastic venue, some great bands, cold beer moderately priced (are you hearing this, UK festival organisers?) - couldn't have asked for much more. Oh, and the locals were lovely: all more than willing to come up to me and offer their opinion of the Order. My fave comment: "New Order. They made me cry!" (he meant it in a good way, honest!!)

Oh, and I completely failed to meet up with the Vikings massive, but did bump into Stash. Conversation as follows:

Me: "Alright, mate? Have you seen Al Jarvis about?"

Him: "Who´s Al Jarvis?"

There was then a potentially slanderous comment about cocaine which I won´t repeat. Also attracted the attention of Catalonian TV who filmed me and my flag, for some reason best known only to themselves. Met Mark Eitzel from American Music Club who, as ever, looked like someone had just stolen his favourite toy.

Just got back 4 hours ago & shattered. Unfortunately I was also a victim of the light fingered twats on the Metro !! (Lesson learnt..... Wallet next to my 'Balls' & one hand touching all the time)!! Fantastic setting & was fantasically organised. Very easy to take a leak / get a drink / eat & see at all the stages, (apart from the Auditorium, but, a fantastic substitute for The Bunneymen was 'The Wedding Present' who were superb. 'NO' excellent & had a good bop about, I'd rather they mix the sets up a bit & look forward to Ceremony @ Hyde Park, can't wait. Apartment next to the nudist beach, couldn't get any better !

I'm no expert of Festivals, but, how does Primavera compare to other festivals cos I was told it was light years ahead of all the other 'Mud baths' ?

One thing puzzles me about those gigs, it's been said before, but after seeing it myself, I think there's too much playback in the set. That's especially upsetting with Run Wild, you know Barney has that ***** melodica, you hear it during RW but only see him play guitar. If he can't do it, why can't Phil do it? Or why does he not at least mime it at those keyboards?

Yep, at Oakland, Barney was even miming the melodica part a bit with his fingers during Run Wild, looking offstage as if he suddenly realized that he should be playing that part.

No it's not, there are some very vocal minority with fully lined pockets that would have you thinking otherwise but as you could see for yourself Barney's vivat did not ellicit any negatives or booing from the Spaniards.

Spotnick, I think the situation is not comparable to that of Quebec, in polls around 70% of the Catalonian population consistently defines itself as "Only Spanish" or "As Spanish as Catalonian". Then again maybe it is comparable because the quebecoises had also consistently chosen to remain within Canada.

Good to be spotted by Hooky who blew me a kiss. Barney missed the first line of Blue Monday and went on about various penises, but the dancing was fantastic, especially BLT with him crawling on his knees and pulling faces into the camera.

Note to Lighting Designer - need better footlights, can hardly see them, and get some lanterns that Hooky can't kick off stage.

Got some reasonable photos (bad light) - where shall I send them so all can see???

great festival site, saw lots of bands that surprised me with quality of the set & the bars were open FOREVER!

If I may be so bold as to attempt to clear this one up for the Statesiders: on this side of the pond, "we" tend to like "gigs", which usually involve getting drunk, squashed, sweaty and bruised, and maybe even near-violated by notorious members of the 'ardcore (see Ness's post above); on the other side of the pond, fans seem to like lots of comfortable space in which to enjoy their "entertainment experience".

It was at the beginning when he was forcing his way through, he kept ramming people forward and I had a few painful barrier clashes - just to clarify.

Thought it was a great gig, everyone from Blackburn had a great night, big shout out to the Blackburn Bastards topped it off nicely.

Really smart gig. They were on top form. All you guys were great, met some more of you and had a top time.
Maybe next time we go we might some of the sights. Sun sea sand and beer. If hooky did that to my lights i would have to slap him. And yes they need to work on there front light situation. Did barney have a go about them in portugal?;)

Shit hot gig

crowd was a bit arsey as we bundled our way to the front so me and Shug had to adopt a "Brits abroad" attitude and just ram em out of the way while chanting Nu Ordah!Nu Ordah

Great to see Budvar down the front with us going mental jumping about, band were on top form, Barney crawling around on his knees clasping his hands together while singing the "get down on my knees and pray" bit of BLT was just brilliant :D

Superb to meet up with the 'Order faithful as always, had an excellent laugh and special thanks to Grahame Ferguson for sorting out the apartment

back in dear old pompey now to answer the question from Nik. Thousands of catalans and brits and germans and french danced and moved around in Barca. the band really respond to such feedback every opening bar was greated by moving and screaming. In the Us there was no passion apart from us europeans a few notable exceptions such as the mighty agent word and Al and Alison at the chigaco gig. thats what makes the european gigs so much better than the 8 north american gigs i have seen. The catalans have no problems with personal space or guarding a spot which they have stood in for four hours sober for.

I'm normally a bit of a loner at NO gigs, losing myself in the whole thing (aswell as the gear & beer :D )

But I got chatting to a guy down the front and mentioned NOOL. He turned out to be Gary, who introduced me to most of the mad Viking mob.

How lucky was that?

Spent the gig between Helen and Alex, just behind Ness and the Spanish couple who spent the whole time trying to shag each other

Thought it was a great show and the Spanish were well up for it, especially the JD stuff. Transmission went down a storm.

Swapped numbers with Shug and Mike, and was going to try catching up for a beer on Sat, but I left my mobile in the back of a cab returning from the gig.

Hopefully see some of you again at Hyde Park.
