They did Vancouver/Seatle in 2001.
Maybe it's time for Chicago and NYC eh? ;)
There won't be any other North American dates, except maybe a 2nd night in NYC.
I wish they'd go to Toronto..or even Montreal...I know Ottawa is incredibly unlikely :( Travel costs are much too high for a poor little student like me 
What is it with bands not doing shows in Canada lately?! my friend and I have noticed a trend... Usually bigger bands will at least do a show in Toronto while neglecting the rest of the country...

At least U2 is doing a stop in Ottawa 
In New Order's case, it seems they need very large cities to sell tickets in the US, blame the bad promotion since 1993...
Last time they did a gig in Montreal is in 1988!

It's rightful shame that these bands won't stop by Canada. I don't get it... why will they skip on a 35 million people market in a country member of the G8, neighbour of the United States ? They can't come up with the distance as an argument...
In any case, I'm boycotting bands who don't stop by from now on. If New Order cannot get their asses this side of the border, then too bad -- I'm not crazy (or rich) enough to spend a thousand bucks only to see them perform for an hour.
And by the way, the promotional argument Spotnick mentionned is pure B.S... Duran Duran made the Bell Center (home of the Montreal Canadiens, the largest arena in North America when it comes to seating) yesterday night and I can't say they are any more popular than New Order nowadays. As a matter of fact, New Order are far more interesting as a band today even for the common music fan.
New Order would sell the Metropolis (3000 - 5000 people) without any problem if they wanted to. They're just not willing to take the risk right now... or don't care... or whatever.

They still didn't sell out the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago... and you think they would fill the Metropolis? (although I'm not convinced the Metropolis can fill that many people, I thought it was 2000)
Duran Duran is something else.. they are surfing on the 80's wave right now.. New Order doesn't seem to want to fit it, and it's a known fact that Bernard Sumner hates touring, so they are limiting it to the minimum these days.

The whole thing just seems silly...ignoring us, and hardly visiting the US too. there's just too many ppl to ignore. and everyone hates at least one part of the their job - he should just suck it up.
didn't someone say that they weren't going to neglect north america as much as last time?
maybe the fame has just gone to their (whoever that might be) head and feel that they have the priviledge that they can now just choose where to play and ignore people if they want to...
which of course, is unfortunate for me and other fans :(
Let's make it this way... they are doing the 3 major cities in North America... LA, Chicago and NYC, the Oakland gig is just a warm up gig they are doing with the Chemical Brothers..
I guess they do it there because the Chemical were doing this show, that's the only reason.
So if Toronto is now the 4th biggest city in North America (really?), technically, it would have been the 4th date..
But nothing is planned at least for 2005. Remember they are releasing ANOTHER album in 2006, so maybe they will do a round up... who knows, but it's still the same band with the lead singer hating to tour and a drummer that is leaving wife & kids and wants to get back.
If Hooky was alone in this band, they'd do 300 gigs a year ;)

Agreed, it is. But at least North America gets gigs 'proper' whereas Europe has to cope with festival appearances alone. We're getting two gigs in England, in New Order's heartland, and one of those is Glastonbury which the majority of people can't get into for love, nor money.

just as I responded to my coworker today after she was disappointed with her juice being watered down, "LIFE is disappointing."
Well... I am leaning on the side of fans who are loosing patience with Bands that won't hit some places (Canada, and others). This is clearly and squarely on the shoulders of the promoters. If I were promoting (and I have done similar successfully, in a past life), New Order would play to 8-10,000 in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, etc.

Surely a well-constructed appeal to NO's management would get the ball rolling, even if we have to wait until the *next* album tour...
INDEED (again!) Now... I wonder if a website (hmmm...) couldn't organize a petition, mass mailer, or at least post contact details of appropriate people in NO mgmt. that we could direct complaints to.
(whenever I get this way, I just don't know what to say...)
