This from the Irish daily STAR newspaper on 3rd May:

"HOOKY OUT OF ORDER

New Order bass legend Peter will DJ in Ireland this month, the day after the 25th anniversary of the death of former band-mate, Joy Division singer, Ian Curtis.

Hooky plays a rescheduled date at The Savoy in Cork on May 19, ahead of New Order's eagerly anticipated Oxegen appearance on July 10.

The band got into festival mode at Coachella in the US at the weekend - and played a set that included True Faith, Waiting For The Sirens' Call, Atmosphere, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Crystal and Blue Monday.

Meanwhile, new mixes of Krafty have surfaced on a US double 12-inch import, ahead of their new single, Jetstream."

Someone in the STAR definitely likes NEWorder!

Now I just need to find a few customers in the Cork area who i 'have to visit' that week:thumb:

Really imaginative headline by the journalist, don't think we've had that one before :uhoh:

Pun-tastic indeed, I think we should have a pun competition on Digital Republic to help these twats out with better headlines.

Ally.

As long as she's female, less than 35 and has healthy lungs, I can be persuaded!

I might be able to escape but doubt it. Need to manage to get a C3 in honours maths :nonono:

If you are even contemplating doing Engineering, I can only urge you:

DON’T DO IT

Don’t throw your life away to a pack of bearded/balding/moustachioed/all 3 Men, who talk in maths and use the word practicable far too often.

I spent more time studying maths than all other subjects put together for my leaving cert, just to make matriculation – and still didn’t really know what I wanted to do. It’s such a tricky time. It’s very very hard to know what career you want at 18 years of age, and almost everyone makes mistakes.

Good luck with the Leaving (its not all that bad, too much shite is talked about it on the telly, radio, etc) – and if you are set on Engineering, here’s my advice:

  • Choose a broad course entrance – not denominated (Mech, Elec, etc) – UCD and Trinity offer these.
  • Give it a few months in 1st year, and ask yourself at Christmas, “is this what I really want to do” – if not, don’t be afraid to back out and start something else the year after – I didn’t have the balls to do it at the time.
  • If you do like it – stick with it – there are some in every year that do.

Good luck again.

  • I wont be going to see Hooky in Cork anyhow. I’m sure he will play a set after Oxegen.

p.s. keep in mind that I am a very angry tosser at the moment, most of it centered on engineering, and those setting my shit hard exams. 12 exams :nonono:

Not doing engineering - well, not involving anything big and messy and metal anyway. CA in DCU - its programming and business/languages/politics - pick 2.

Although that sounds about as much fun as what I'm doing, it cant involve so many exams.

Hope it goes ok for you.

So who is going to Cork? - or , dare I ask, who is in Cork :evil4:
