Wouldn't say all Americans, just the ones who don't frequent this board.

Quite funny to see Jeanette hijack Alan's posting halfway through and shout New Order's corner!

It's one thing being called a cnut but to have some luddite from COVENTRY say something like 'such fans probably have no idea of the beauty of songs such as Ceremony and Perfect Kiss' is perhaps one insult too far!

Sad to hear someone else say Warsaw was a 'bag of shit' though. Then again he/she did appear to sign their comments with 'Twat' so at least they know their place in the world. ;)

They have been. Coachella this year. Johnny G knows a lot of their fans and a couple were over for that gig.

And the 'Dunnocks' who are mentioned in that thread have posted here on occasion. Mrs Dunnock was in the pub with us on Wednesday! Oh, and she's on the 511 DVD! Lovely people.

would they be the other couple on before you & your missus (assuming it was your missus?!)

cheers for the badge btw, :thumb:

No, that's John and Christine. I'm meeting 'em in your neck of the woods tonight if you're around? Bierkeller, is it? Near Piccadilly. I don't get in till late though.

That's actually my EX-wife I'm with! But we're still mates, so it's cool.

Mrs Dunnock is the American talking on the DVD.

They should be easy to spot, they'll all be in full millitary uniform and carrying a shrub.

If I end up that way I'll drop in Al. Always seems to kick off in there! No one can handle the mad beer they sell.

Nice to see that they took the time and patience to download the video and watch it before gleefully slagging it off! :nonono:

I may well be appearing at the Beerkeller tonight. Unfortunately I can't take responsibility for my good friend Kevo's emotional outburst on that other forum yesterday - though I may well be partly responsible for the gentrification (cuntrification?) of the C-word over there.

Rest assured Kevo is normally quite charming and has a big love of all things JD - indeed he has been known to paraphrase Paul Morley's "all that I am, I am because of JOy Division"

The Beerkeller sucks - the beer sucks and the barmaids are always miserable - especially the one who looks like peter kays sister - though I do believe she was less miserable in the storeroom with the Towers of London Guitarist a few months back

Er Happy Birthday Christine for tomorrow

I shall doubtless see you there, if you're around, Alan. :thumb:

Cunt is a quality word though.

Moving on from the BSPs, I had another look at "other band's forum's" yesterday and a few people seemed upset.

One Super Furries forum called New Order fans the 'most obnoxious ever' because of the 'Nuuu Orderrr' chants in gaps during the SFA's set (not guilty, I was in the bar!). Mind, the same forum also quoted the SFA's singer asking everyone to (snigger) stand up for their last song. Bless. So it sounds like most people weren't arsed about the SFA's either.

Oh, and on the Fall forum someone made a comment about New Order's 'footballfan fans' (so good they named us twice) being 'confused' by the Joy Division set?! Again, bless. Presumably ATR of 180+ Fall gigs fame should be included amongst this?!

Anyways, I loved Wednesday night to bits so who gives a royal flying one for what t'others have to say!

Amen to that. I mean, punters enjoying a gig. Whatever next...

With this reputation, how long before someone introduces an ID card scheme for "true" New Order fans to weed out the appalling hoologan element who, erm, like alcohol and are enthusiastic about their favourite pop group?

New Order ASBOs? Now there's a thought. I nominate Rocket Mick for the first one.

We were the most 'lively' fans on the night and NO were headlining, so they should go and bury their heads somewhere. They way they're going on you'd think someone had been beaten up or something...

After meeting up with my fellow Vikings and seeing how friendly and welcoming everyone is I can say my faith in human nature has been partially restored.

I reckon the non-NO fans are just jealous of our passion.

Time for them to get a life!

Fucking brilliant, just got a phone call from Al who mentioned people were calling us cunts on their message board...... I have to agree we are all a bunch of cunts

As for whoever was shouting for WIFM, I would've twatted him masel :D

Right I'm off to get blootered. We have a myth to live uptae.

It can't have been me during the SFA set as I fell asleep for the entirety of the set(so they must have been good)! :D (oh, and before anyone else comments on this, I did actually want to see them live - maybe another day)!

Anyway, as Al says, who cares - it was a fcuking excellent set, and the meetup was superb (even though I might have had more than my fair share of Stella's - see comment above)!

But, damn, that hangover in the morning was bad ...

As for British Sea Power, they're not a bad band at all - very pleasant - must seek out some of their later tracks (from the album 'Open Season'). :)

Are they not an Energy Source?

I prefer GAS ( GONG Appreation Society )

Let's face it, they are only jealous because their band of choice has a shit name that nobody will ever shout out inbetween songs. Altogther now..."British Sea Power, British Sea Power". Doesn't quite have the same ring to it!

And yes, BSP forum members without a sense of humour, my mum is bigger than yours ;)

I had a great night on Wednesday at the QEH. It was also lovely speaking to the people from this site that I met in the pub beforehand.

A big thanks to Al for the badge too :)

Well done Johnny G for posting a riposte on the BSP forum. I bet you feel dirty, don't you, Marky boy!

Mind, since the best they've now come back with is 'New Order are c***s anyway' I bet you wished you hadn't bothered.

At least Cath Aubergine sounds rather level-headed. Was sat with Mr Staszko in a bar in Mancland last night and he says I've definitely met her but then you meet so many people through Alex it's hard to keep track. Johnny G claimed I've even met Kevo, though I wasn't convinced but Alex pinpointed a night last year when I met up with Iain and Bunny, JG and Alex, plus others in a bar in Wardour Street, just up from Iain and Bunny's home, though I can't recollect everyone who was there and don't think we spoke. However, knowing who we are, and obviously being on speaking terms with the likes of Alex and Mark and certainly Jeanette and knowing the Dunnocks are our friends too then I've no idea why he felt the need to simply call us all 'cunts'. Then again, he has 'Tom Nicholls' to thank for 'telling teacher' (if you catch my drift) and presumably didn't feel the need himself to share such witticisms here, which is only sensible.

Calling themselves the Third Battalion though?! Way too macho and militaristic for my liking. Who do they think they are? The Chelski Headhunters or ManYoo Red Army or something?! :evil4:

Like the analogy Al! The good name of New Order has been besmirched by the actions of a small minority of their "so-called" fans. They are the Leeds United of the pop world!!!!! After all LUFC have been run like Factory for a while.

The hacks digging the dirt find New Order fans have form; 1987 Brixton, New Order fans leave an AIds benefit gig without staying for Bronski Beat. 1989 Producers of Big World Cafe ensure New Order fans stay by putting them on first and last, crap bands pay the price of ridicule in between. Later that year Sugarcubes harrassed at Reading throughout their set...

   Although you forgot Reading 98 when we didn't have the temerity to stay for GARBAGE or Cologne 2001 when Al and JG STAYED for Robbie Williams but sang Angels loudly and out of tune :uhoh: :D

Robbie Williams????? Oh, please. As a punishment for having sat through (some) of Wednesday night,(the other some he held me up) my other half has just bought 4 tickets for the man himself at Wembley and another 2 in Cardiff - anyone interested, I will personally pay for the tix. And the postage. And the overnight accom. And anything really, just not to go. Angels was good though wasn't it - right up there with ................ erm.............. no, sorry, but it might come to me later. You really are a mad bunch of b******s - gone dyslexic all of a dussen.
