Someone on another site posted this link to a Christie's Hospital press release, dated 30 September

The date set for the gig is January 28. No mention of New Order but Hooky is listed. With Mani and Andy Rourke also there I wonder if this could be Freebase?

"Smiths man to stage huge benefit concert Andy Rourke announces 'Manchester Versus Cancer' Former Smiths bass player Andy Rourke has announced details of a huge benefit concert for 2006.
The Charlatans, Badly Drawn Boy, ex-Stone Roses member Mani and New Order's Peter Hook have already offered their support for the Manchester Versus Cancer event, which is due to take place on January 28 at the city's MEN Arena.
Rourke was inspired to put on the concert following the news that his manager's sister and father had been diagnosed with cancer.
Along with friends, he decided to attempt to raise £1 million for alternatives to chemotherapy at Manchester's Christie Hospital - Europe's largest cancer treatment and research centre.
Speaking about the gig, Rourke said: "It will bring together people and bands that have made Manchester famous. It will be huge and the idea is that this will be the start of an annual event to raise money for charity whether it is helping cancer or arthritis. It will be bigger and bigger each year, the highlight of the musical calendar."
Money will be raised through sponsorship and ticket and merchandise sales. More names are expected to join the line-up nearer the event."

ive started to get over the fact its not new order
should be good and is for a worthy cause so i am a deffo.
will probally spend more time in the pubs outside than in the arena though and i am sure they'll be others of you doing likewise,but will be drinking for charity though

There are strong rumours that at least one enormous band will reform. And a 'famous comedian' is doing the compering. (Peter Kay by any chance?)
Andy says it’s going to be an extra special event: “I don’t want to give too much away but there are going to be some amazing collaborations. Different people are going to play with different bands or play different songs in a way that you’ll never see again.”
He added that if it takes off, he’d like it to be an annual event. “It could be like an Andy Rourke invitational… maybe not for Christie next time but something else.”
Demand for tickets is expected to be huge. A DVD spin-off will help push the fundraising towards the magic million. And the MEN Arena has agreed to stage the concert at a knockdown price. "
