I saw the June 84 gig there, a blinding set and the improv before 'Confusion', amazing.
With reference to Steve Campbell's Apollo pilgrimage and his comments about the venue's acoustics, New Order never sounded better than they did at the Tower (the Nottingham Rock City might wanna argue with that)

Hi Veronika, the band played the Powerhouse in 1984. When they played the Tower in 1985 Arthur Baker joined them on stage for Confusion. Is this the gig your referring to?
Possibly the perfect venue for New Order, not too big, not too small. Saw three great gigs here - nobody could forget the opening riff of LWTUA that day in 83, and the 85 set where the first six up were all new songs. Probably the pick though, and for many, myself included, the best ever New Order gig, was the 86 show, a night where everything went perfectly. Absolutely magnificent performance, and a must-have in every live recording collection.

Amen to that - although don't forget Thieves Like Us started horribly out of tune 
That's a shame - venue for my first NO gig as well.
I wonder what they'll do with the Palm Trees? Perhaps make an arch out of them like the New Wembley!

Failed to get into the Birmingham Powerhouse June 1984 gig as me and my mate got refused entry for being under 18 .Got the bootleg, though:D

Its a long time ago but I think I swiped the setlist off the mixer desk at the Powerhouse and then lost it on the way home...
I have pics of the Powerhouse gig, Gillian had a row of ducks on her keyboard, I will dig one or two out.
Two best Temptations I've heard were at LA Florentine Gardens 83 and Hemel Hempstead 85. Not forgetting Taboo #7 at Sheffield Poly 1981... Getting 'Singles' recently reminded me of how cheesed off I was with Fac 63 when it first came out.
