Glastonbury v Apollo 2005

Personally I think the band sounded like crap at Apollo. Much better performance at Glastonbury this year even if Kieth Allan rode in on a horse.

I think their performance and the actual sound coming from the speakers was lovely at the apollo. The venue throwing a tantrum at the level of the bass was a bit of a bummer. Ya don't get that problem outside :)

I was actually at both and Manc was a better gig. Better sound, better performance, better set etc etc.

I just wish that before they let us in, they'd taken the whole building and dipped it in rubber sealant to stop the fucking barking walls. the sheer volume and crystal clarity of the TPK strings at the end show that the soundsystem itself couldn't give a fuck about how hard it was pushing, it was totally content and still had a fuckload of headroom, sadly if they'd pushed it another 6dB the apollo would have folded outwards like a cardboard box.

did I pick the right gig to bust my cherry or what.

EDIT: I, as you know bailed backwards, but i was wondering, those of you down the front, could you even hear the noises I'm talking about or was the direct sound from the rig drowning them.

incidentally....is it just me or was Hooky's voice coming out of his monitor only most of the time.

mmm, can only compare Manc to Hyde Park.

To be honest indoor & outdoor are so different that it's hard to compare.

I enjoyed Hyde Park, it was great getting covered in shit. I enjoyed the Apollo for the music more though.

I always prefer 'away' gigs though. More of an event.

I think my perfect gig would be indoor, abroad, somewhere like Barcelona...... ahhhh crap :\ohwell:

I think that they were better in Glastonbury!!! Apollo doesn´t sounds bad But what do you think about Coachela???

I thought Brixton was far better than the Apollo gig for both venue and sound.But i would say that Coachella was an awsome sound for an outdoor festival.Hey now what you doing was the dogs danggys.:)

Yeah, temptation was brilliant at Glasto (seemed so on BBC3, never really got off the ground at the apollo. Watching that performance now www.livegigsonline.com. BLT (my fave) sounded crap, just the tinkly bit from the substance version and Hooky's bass solo at the end of the song, which could have redeemed it, was just too weak. (though probs the sound engineer's/producer's fault more than his own)

Glasto did look good. Out of Brixton and Appollo Brixton was miles better. Atmosphere at Brixton was mental. Totally surprised me. When LWTUA came on the place was rocking from the front to the back doors. That's unusual for a gig. Usually stops half way up the crowd. People who would usually just stand and nod were going crazy. Come to think of it-most the songs got that reaction.

Was dissapointed in Manchester (atmosphere), considering it was a "home" gig. Even Bernard was struggling to excite the crowd at certain times during the show.

So what is a crowd supposed to do when they play Atmosphere ?

THE atmosphere at Brixton was mental, not atmosphere the song, which they did not do.

I would expect a crowd to sing atmosphere very, very loud. At Apollo, the crowd were not really up for anything, even the stomping tracks, especially in comparison to Brixton.

I've asked myself that question, and observed the situation closely since circumstances had driven me to a perfect vantage point. From observational evidence, the entire audience was also lost in thought on the same subject before during and after the piece itself.

you lucky bastards were I was not. I am just going off of the dvd of the Apollo webcast and a dvd of BBC3 at Glasto. Probably the Beeb's subsidized production tinted my opinion.

I was at the front. I'm always at the front and i never sit at any gigs or concerts as i'm far too hyper. Just ask all the people that sit behind me at Highbury. I'm forever jumping up and down and not sitting in a civilised manner, in rage these days though, not celebration.

My main point about Brixton was that if you looked behind you from the front of the stage you could see people really dancing and going mad, right to the back doors. The whole venue was up for it-not just us nutters at the front. Manchester was not like that, except for the nutty few.

Hi i never went to the appolo but i was at brixton. i was drunk and i was goin mad just like at reorder and hyde park. i was standin to the rite at the back everyone seem to be goin mad. can someone send me the cd please.

Brixton was amazing, but i can't compare cause i missed Glastonbury and Apollo (damn bad luck with the dates!)
