A fookin huge (and UNSPRUNG) dancefloor might do at a puch. We can always grab staging from a theatre hire place or blag some.

Any Mancs here know if THE ROADHOUSE is still open? Last I saw,it was...but someone says it shut not so long ago. It'd be a good place for gig,and it's stone-throwing distance from Piccadilly Gardens.
It's already booked up for April. We're gonna have to call in a few favours if we are gonna get a Manchester Saturday gig in April at this stage. I'll do some investigating.

Good luck Sheerluck!
:bag:
Right. You may have thought things had gone a bit quiet on this, but I've been doing some spadework to try and get things established.
Basically we've got no chance of getting a suitably sized venue in Manchester free of charge for April 15th.
I therefore recommend that we think in terms of rescheduling this for maybe August or early September. Maybe August Bank Holiday weekend Saturday? That doesn't of course mean that nothing needs to be progressed now, far from it. As soon as I've recorded this Community track I'll get back onto the case.
Erm... with regards to August Bank Holiday.
What if NO play the Carling weekend that weekend?

Exactly. What can you do? I've asked the band's management if there are any plans to play Reading/Leeds, not wanting to know if that is a definitive yes, just whether there are plans to be gigging at that time of year. Nowt back, of course. Liam - get yer mate Alex to ask Andy, will you? ![]()
Notwithstanding recent toy-from-pram ejections, y'all can still count me in (as both attendee and slave labour). FWIW, I kinda figured you were just busy with C2 and your MEN festivities anyway.
I LIKE the idea of august, I'll DEFO be sorted by then (or well and truly boned :D ). Respect.
Yeah I'm still up for August, wherever it finishes up at.![]()
Tim,will any of the Student places like UMIST or Salford's Maxwell Hall put us up?

That's a VERY good idea - UMIST has a great venue and would probably be up for hiring it to non-students out of term time.

Is that the funny little place underground at UMIST? Saw Mazzy Star there many moons ago....

Yeah that one on the UMIST grounds across from Retro Bar,they've got a class pub upstairs, and a quite spacious area downstairs with a stage. I've done a few sponsored "BOGLE STROLL" walks for UMIST,and we always register down there. MAXWELL HALL,don't hear much these days, but it's seen the likes of Siouxsie and Bauhaus in days gone by.
Sounds Ideal. Saw a gig there in '85ish. Marc Reilly & the Creepers, Age of Chance & the June Brides. Well, it was good at the time.
I was at UMIST when they closed Shiranskys and spent a FORTUNE on the Underground. It's not small and the sound system was ACE when they opened up. I used to put on dance nights there - a really good venue.

If this is rescheduled for the end of the summer, this actually means this WILL be the Community 2 UK Launch Party of some kind... ;)
Better book a venue ASAP to make sure you actually have it this time around ;)
And I'll shut up before giving advice, I'm Mr last minute in everything ;)

That means I MIGHT be able to go :D :D :D
Thank fuck for that.... thought it was gonna be me and Maya vs hordes of Englanders :D
(no offence to Scots order of course....do we HAVE any welsh?)
I'm in England August/September (not sure when exactly) so that would give me a chance of going.
Dear Mr. Monkey...
In the intro post to this thread could you please write:
DATE: (and the options being considered).
LOCATION: (and the options being considered).
OTHER: ('owt else being considered).
That'll save us all trawling through all the posted threads to find out wot's wot.
Many thanks!

To be honest, my wife wants to visit Ireland, so we *might* be around at the end of August/Beginning of September.
Don't you guys have a bank holiday on the first monday of September? Meaning Sunday Sept 3rd would be a perfect date for this.
Our Bank Holiday is the last Monday in August, we don't get one in September. Mind you, they are always Mondays, and people have to work on the Tuesday, so we are far better looking at a Saturday for this. Heard anything from Rebecca yet? She didn't reply to my mail about this event.
Sorry to say, that for personal reasons it looks like I wont be attending NOOLday. Sorry guys, but I'm sure decent engineers grow on trees in a big city like manc. Have a good one.
Aww Gutted From Manchester.Would have been good to meet you, mate. Any offers on a spark? Sorry Stevo that you're not even cold in the ground,but..Tim any updates.Anything I can do.I'll be pissed if it don't come off.
