There's a thread on Republique Numerique where the consensus is that New Order just wouldnt do a proper tour of France again. Maybe a one-off in Paris and a festival but something like the mini tour they did in 85 just wont happen again. Just before True Faith at Les Vielles Charrues last July Barney said 'we'll definitely have to tour France again'. What would it take? A new album release? A sponsor? Someone to come up with venues? More French sales? Or was he just talking out of his arse?

Probably the latter - if he toured everywhere he promised to, they'd be on the road 365 days a year! Having said that though, they did genuinely enjoy Les Vielles Charrues (as did all of us, the highlight of 2005's festivals for me).
I suppose that it would take a generous promotion offer from European promoters to get them to do a short tour of half a dozen dates or so, across France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Would be good news for us!!!

Heaven - for both people that live in those countries and the rest of Europe as well as the (relatively) low cost of trekking round Europe for us Brits - bring it on!

Though I think we all now know that Europe ain't exactly 1st, or even 2nd, on their list of priorities this year. ![]()

Has London or the band said anything about what they might be doing in 2006? Someone on NOOL must have an inside track..? Who are the promoters in Europe for a band of their size and market? Just asking cos I dont have a clue...

Two countries which ain't in Europe. Don't think it's a secret but I'll be blowed* if I'm the one to say it.
(*) Not literally, obviously.
Who'll blow me if I spill the beans?
I promise not to come in your mouth.
And the badge is in the post!

just tell them the past 25 years never happened, and that they can only play JD songs, they'll be in the car and driving to Nowhereistan in 20 minutes.
You mean tell 'em they can charge £40 a head and will only be expected to play for 40 mins with no encores......
I have the email of their tour agent.. I should seriously ask them someday how much it would cost to get them to play in front of a "exclusive fanclub crowd" for NOOL Day ;)
I'm quite sure many people here would pay good money to have a more intimate concert with the band... I don't know if they would let us pick which songs they should play (out of the ones they rehearsed since 2 years of course)
Hehe.
Type of thing you sell tickets before and go ahead with it and just pick a lot of insurance in case it's cancelled.

Nic, PLEASE stop using the word 'Fanclub'!
We are not 13-year old schoolgirls!
Er, well, not all of us. ![]()

Would be BRILLIANT
Some newspapers have run articles to show how much is needed for Stars to perform for private audiences. They've got to be cheaper than Elton John! And i'm not saying Elton John is better than New Order, before somebody jumps!
Somebody really needs to find out! We might be able to have a whipround!
I think if New Order were available/afforable for a private audience, Mr Sultan would've booked them a dozen times by now. ![]()
Er, or maybe he has?!

I think, if Nic would send us member cards with a lot of privilegies, it would be ok. :D

Naughty! ;)
ARe the USA their Priority ?Are european countries too small for them now ? NO never did a real tour in France...Why ? Not enough fans,i suppose. The fans 'phenomenon isn't very important here and N.O is still a cult band,in a certain way, even if their audience is now bigger than it was in the eighties. I can't really imagine a N.O tour with 3 or 4 live dates in my country. It has allways been a big regret for me:( and i don't think it will change in the future.

you said Hooky needed to lose weight, for that sin, France should NEVER get another gig.... :angry2:
But Jean-Noël think that the all band should loose some pounds… except Steve maybe ?

If they're touring they will not have to go on diet !

You'll never see a fat drummer. (except maybe a jazz session dude who can hit 300 beats to bar and do so from the wrists down entirely without breaking a sweat)
5mins behind even an electronic kit and I'm like "just gimme my bass back NOW!"
JEAN NOEL BOUET wrote: ARe the USA their Priority ?
No, the USA is not their priority in 2006.
It's not Europe and it's not the USA.

I think, it's the same story as the get ready tour.
- USA (2001 + 2005)
- Europe (2001 + 2005)
and the next year
- Australia and Newsealand. (2002 + 2006)
Correct me, if I'm false, Al. :)

I'm trying to discover this answer decoding the colours on the new Vikings badge. If I'm not mistaken, the colours mean A O (left) B P (right). I have no idea what you're trying to say with that, but I hope the B is for Brazil. ![]()
