For those who want underworld too, they are playing in BA on nov 11th, at Creamfields Buenos Aires, they are the only confirmed act by now...so it is a week before NO at the ^Personal Fest...so it is a good chance to spend a great week in BA... see you all. leo.

Don't bother. Been doing some reading up on it myself. Distance travel in Brazil is by plane or bus. The only passenger trains to speak of are the metros in Rio and SP.

Unfortunately, Argentina has a fantastically noisy and dirty local train network.... to a train nut on holiday this is a little slice of heaven...

Im Gonna be in Chile around this time as part of my job. May be able to wangle the Argentina gig but i think the Brazil dates are out of the question. :)

Just found out I'll need to apply for a visa in order to get into Brazil. The rules are almost certainly different depending on what country's passport you have. Be sure to investigate this if you plan on going.
US passport holders need to apply for a visa at the consulate and submit a $100 fee, plus $10 processing if done by mail.
Canadian passport holders need to go through a similar procedure, but the rates are lower.
I'm pretty sure UK and most European passport holders can enter Brazil without a visa, but don't quote me on that.
The website for the Brazilian consulate in your jurisdiction has all the info you'll need, including forms to fill and where to send them. Here's mine...

You're right. EU-Citizens don't need a visa for Brazil or Argentina.

I know it won't help you any, but just so you know: Brazil requires visas only from nationals whose countries require visas from Brazilians, i.e. US and Canada. Other nationals shouldn't have any problems, Argentinians, Chileans, Uruguayans and Paraguayans don't even need their passports, just any id card they can provide.

Just bought my plane tickets from Delta, so I definitely will be going. :)
Leave ATL on the 10th, arrive Rio morning of the 11th.
Leave BA on the 20th, arrive ATL morning of the 21st.
$1295 for those. :( But after that I'll have enough SkyMiles for a ticket to go pretty much anywhere I want. :)
I'm missing the Belo Horizonte gig (don't like stadiums) so I can do some sightseeing in Rio that weekend. Then I'll head to SP for the Via Funchal gigs.
Now I need to figure out the Rio to BA flight... and transport between Rio and SP Brazil (flights or buses).
Then apply for my visa.
Then hotels.
Then figure out where the rest of you are so I don't miss the party. 
That's in, I'm in.
Flying with Air France, get into Sao Paolo on Thursday 9th.
Will saunter over to Belo Horizonte on Friday with the Milkys.
Fly back from Buenos Aires on Monday 20th.
Oh well, the saunter over to Belo Horizonte wasn't quite the relaxed saunter I'd hoped for cos the flight I wanted had gone and we've now got to go from a different aerporto instead.
One major pain in the arse is that neither Tam, nor Gol, actually take credit cards from International customers!
It's Amex only!
Which is a right pain. 
But if you're gonna use international carriers expect them to triple the price! Our 30quid flight with Gol to Belo Horizonte is 85quid booking it UKside. Again,

This is exactly why I ended up going with Aerolineas Argentinas for the Rio->BA flight. They made it easy by taking my reservation on the website and then having me call a toll free number (in the US) to give them my Visa card info. There's likely a toll free number for the UK as well so you could do the same. Also their rates were competitive and they offered a nonstop flight which TAM and GOL did not.
For travel inside Brazil I'm thinking I'll just book on the spot or take a bus. I'm not going to BH so it'll just be a couple of hops between RJ and SP.
EDIT: Just looked it up for you... £193.10 for the same flight I'm on... Nov 17 12:10-15:25, nonstop GIG to EZE. Toll free number is on the UK front page. Dunno, you might get a better deal elsewhere but that's still pretty good.
