Do you need a ride morning of Oct 30 from Wolverhampton to Heathrow?

Attention fellow NOOLers:

I will be hiring a car or minibus to take my sister and I from Wolverhampton to Heathrow after the gig on Monday am. We are on a fairly tight time line to catch a 1:30 pm flight back to Canada, we need to get back to take our respective kids tric-or-treating! I think this option will be faster and less hassle than taking a train, tube, then another train, etc., for us Canadians unfamiliar with the local public transport.

I plan on using the following company:

We will probably leave at 8 am. I know this option is more expensive, but I can afford it. If anybody would like to share the ride, I am willing to charge a nominal fee of only $40 Canadian or £ 20 per person. Up to four can share a car, but if there are more people interested, we can a 5/6 seater or even a minibus. Let me know if you are interested, I am hoping to reserve soon.

Also, regarding where to stay in WoIves, I read some really bad reviews of Britannia Hotel on TripAdvisor, (check out:

So I booked Novotel Wolverhampton instead.

To be honest, for the few hours I'll stay at the hotel, I don't know if the hotel is going to be that important... it's more storage space for luggage :lol:

I need to know pretty fast if you do this, because I will be buying my train tickets within the next 2 weeks.

And, hum, problem can be leg space for me... :(

Wow... those reviews are aweful! might try to change my reservation to the Novotel. Although knowing it's 5 mins from the train station is a good thing.

BTW Robert, do you still speak any french? :p

Bien sur je parle francais!

But it gets a little rusty out here on the west (or is that wet) coast. A few days in Québec or France and it starts to flow a lot better.

I will call that Cabbie company tonight, when it is day time over there, and book a car ride from Wolverhampton to Heathrow. It would be cool if you could join my sis and I (my wife refuses to go also!), we could have an unofficial meeting of French Canadian NOOLers!

I booked the cab ride from Wolverhampton to Heathrow, leave at 8 am Oct 30, they tell me that should leave ample time to get to Heathrow by 11 am. I booked with Central taxis Wolverhampton.

If Spotty is in, that makes 3 of us, room for one more if anyone else is interested. We will even accept non French-Canadians, as long as you are a New order fan! :crazy:

(if there are more interested, i can upgrade to a bigger vehicle).

Well, that might be interesting, but I need to book train anyways to GO to Wolverhampton..

I'll get back to you on this, I feel a bit insecure about it, don't blame me, but since it's 2 hours away, on a monday morning, I just hope it's going to be alright.

I also plan to take the train to go to Wolves...

But I am also worried about getting to Heathrow on time Monday morning, and although the traffic is always a variable, i feel more comfortable with the door-to-door convenience of a cab, rather than worry about all those connections by train-tube-train, with luggage, in a strange country!

Well, I'll check into this, should have my answer soon... 40$ is pretty acceptable, just want to make sure I get there.. one hotel is near the train station, the other is where you are, so I'll see.

It would be train-taxi for me, I think Heathrow is not too far from the train station I was told, about 15 minutes.

That's right, I hired a cab to go from Wolverhampton to Heathrow direct, they charge a flat rate of 115 british pounds, which is about $240 canadian, but I will only ask $40 from you if you want to ride with us.

My understanding is that the other way is a train to Euston station, then tube to Paddington station, then Heathrow express train to Heathrow. The Heathrow express is only 15 minutes, but I am worried about making 2 transfers with luggage under time pressure, so that is why I prefer the luxury of hiring a cab to go door to door. The cab company says that even with traffic, it should be well under 3 hours to get there.

If you still plan to stay at Britannia, we can pick you up, i don't think Novotel is too far away.

Nicos, the train journey you're planning is like this...

Wolves --> London Euston London Euston --> Paddington (tube) Paddington --> Heathrow (Express train)

London Euston to Heathrow, door to door, when you've never made the journey before, including waiting in line for tickets during rush hour, is about 1 hour & loads of hassle. Throw a load of luggage into the mix plus an alarm call at whatever ridiculous time you're thinking of waking up and Rob's offer looks like a no-brainer. Quicker, easier and cheaper.

Edit: I have just cancelled the Britannia and will be at the Novotel, so this should ease things (cost me 30$ though, freaking Expedia)

Yeah, but wouldn't be much quicker than getting the tube at that time of day. A taxi straight to the airport from your hotel for £20?!, now that's the way to travel Nicos :nod:

I'm all set, I just booked the Virgin Train from Euston to Wolverhampton at 12:30... seems to be a direct trip, it's the shortest.

So I should be in Wolverhampton at 15:08, plenty of time to go to the hotel and then aim to the pre-gig meetup.

All right, sounds good, look forward to finally meeting you, Nicos. We will save a spot for you in the cab for the ride from Wolves to Heathrow. I am glad you switced to Novotel, that will make things easier, Britannia sounds like a bit of a dive.

I think I will also book the same train ride out from Euston to Wolves, I am just waiting to sort out a hotel for London.
