Half Price Train Travel To New Order Gigs

Dear all,

A pretty damn good offer is available until tomorrow (Thursday) through the Scotrail ticket site:

Basically ANY ticket in the UK is half price when you use this site, so if you are going to Newcastle, Blackpool, Glasgow, London, or Wolves then you will be quids in. Please note that it only applies the discount at stage 7, basically halve the initial price you see.

Its a genuine link, I've booked about 15 tickets for travel inbetween now and Jan 1st. Bargain!

FFS, why is it that these bastards always penalise the people who are organised and buy tickets etc as soon as they become available? Got caught in the Bournemouth ticket farce because I bought a ticket on the day they were released, not when Alan Wise put his offer up the next day, and now find that rail fares are cheaper now than when I bought them! Shite is the word.

Typically the Aberdeen Orders' last minute organisation hasn't been able to take advantage, as the fares offered here were more expensive than before.

We've saved 60 quid however by just phoning up for our tickets for Mondays journey instead.

Thanks for the link though, I'm sure I'll put it to use for some other away-day, having already booked all my travel for the forthcoming gigs.

A quick tip for anyone trying to find cheap tickets using this; search for the SUBSTANTIVE bit of your journey first, and then any local connecting tickets.

For example, when travelling from Leicester to Blackpool it was far far cheaper to book a nuneaton-blackpool Virgin Trains apex ticket and then a local leicester-nuneaton ticket than a simple Leicester-Blackpool ticket.

Also, never go straight for a simple return, book two singles as 99% of the time it'll be vastly cheaper.

Its Thatchers wonderful legacy, a privatised rail network where unless you work on it or are an enthusiast (ahem....)you haven't got a cat in hells chance of getting a good deal.........

or go on the hard shoulder of the motorway, with this sticking out.

For anyone travelling back from Bournemouth to London the day after the gig Tuesday 10/10/06 check out www.megatrain.com as they were (don't know if they are now) offering £3 single fares for the South West Trains 7:59pm departure to Waterloo. Hope this helps, cheers!

Thanks V. much. you saved me over £168 on the discount alone. kept even more in my back pocket by finding discounted tickets I didn't even knew existed! Going to the London gig (& back) for £11.25 from Bath - bargain.

Sorry to tell you this, but if you'd clicked on the bit where it said:

You could have got there for a fiver.

If anybody is booking last minute through this web site keep on clicking the buttons for later/earlier trains - sometimes the options buttons don't appear straight away.

On a Wolverhampton note, I've booked a ticket for 1:30pm on the Sunday afternoon. If anyone's travelling prior to midday, you *may* (according to the poster at Wolverhampton train station) have to change at Milton Keynes for a bus!
