Cadastro de Pessoa Fisica Its the Brazilian taxpayer's identification number (as I understand it) so you shouldn't need it.

There are threads for the South American trip on here so I'd get in touch with the people who are on there, most have sorted out their flights already I believe.

I think there's a problem using Mastercard or Visa and only American Express will work for online bookings. Though I could be wrong...

Yeah, the guilties were 2 north american pilots on a executive jet plane  Their passports were taken from the police till the investigation is solved.

I saw that on the news about the crash but LutonOrder said that everybody was flying with Gol at 9.10 in the morning. Also, its a few quid cheaper than TAM or other carriers. I would like to know how they reserved their flights if you cant use mastercard or visa?

You can't book with internationally issued Visa or Mastercards, only local ones.

American Express is the only way of booking I'm afraid, unless you go with a British operator who will triple the price of your flight for the privilege.

Yep, blame it on the Americans...quit looking at the pilots, and put the blame square where it belongs...on the Brazilian ATCs....

Try alternatively Tam. I booked all my flights with tam-germany.de.

International orders on the Gol website can only be paid with Amex. I just got my Delta SkyMiles Amex card so I booked my flights between RJ and SP on there.

The BA flight I booked with Aerolineas Argentinas. It was all pretty trouble free. You book online and then call their toll free number to make the payment and confirm the reservation. They're also the only airline besides Varig that offers a flight with no connections, which to me is worth a little extra.

As for Varig, they're barely functioning, and their online resesrvations system is pretty clunky right now.

You may be able to buy tickets on TAM through a local office. Check the website to find one near you.

I booked my flight in the end with Aerolineas Argentinas. Absolute piece of cake compared to Gol, TAM et al. Now that is sorted which hotels is everybody staying at, i.e Belo, Sau Paulo, Rio and Buenos?
