Tried posting this earlier, but NOOL went into meltdown, so here goes again (copied and pasted back from Notepad)!
Top night all-round - here's my attempt at a write-up (seeing as though Shug got some kind of excuse for not turning up - i.e. work! 
)!
Okay, met up with Al, JG, Wolfram and Don at Heathrow, only to find that the bloody plane was delayed by about 20 minutes due to the recent thunder storms in London... Any old excuse... Finally, took off an hour late, so we touched down in Newcastle at around 6pm.
Checked into the hotel, only to find out that I'd booked my room for 11th November - DOH! Luckily, the hotel had a spare smoking double-room for the same dough - that was close!
We all decided to watch the remainder of the first half of the England vs Croatia match at the hotel, and then grabbed a cab to the Centurion pub at the station to watch the second half (to meet some of the Darlo Order), and watch an extremely poor England side get beaten 2-0 - good ol' Paul Robinson and his attempted clearance! :p
Anyway, onto the gig - got to the venue and met up with the usual suspects at the door - Big Clive, Pompey Order, Old Monkey, John Sludden, Welshcake, etc (I'm crap at remembering names - somebody else will need to fill in the gaps!). The venue felt like a proper venue, compared to the "school assembley hall" in Bournemouth a few days before - i.e. loads of people, proper stage/bars - just the right kind of atmosphere (even though there seemed to be a distinct lack of gents toilets in the venue)! 
Setlist was virtually identical to Bournemouth (and has been posted in this thread), but with the addition of "Guilt Is A Useless Emotion" (with female backing vocals on tape, of course, as no female singers on stage). All in all, to summarise the gig, the band seemed to be enjoying the gig better than Bournemouth - more smiles on stage, as the sound seemed to be a lot better (probably because the acoustics in Bournemouth were lousy).
Post gig, we finally met up with Digi Mike (he only had a seating ticket, even though he'd ordered a standing ticket - funny thing was that I'd had a spare standing ticket that he could have had for free! 
)! Still, at least he seemed to enjoy it - I blame the lack of a haiwaiian shirt that day! 
Anyway, off to the chippy (with lots of gravy - the way chips ought to be eaten), then off to a pub for a quick pint and then deciding to go to the Hooky DJ After party just down the road.
We arrived just as Hooky was starting up - he was having photos taken with a number of different fans, signing stuff, and playing his DJ set (content not a surprise to those of us who've witnessed his sets in the past, but a pleasant surprise to those who hadn't). And, anyway, with the number of New Order-related mash-ups/remixes in the set, a great time was had by all. This ended around 2'ish.
Got back to the hotel soon afterwards, and proceeded to stay up until 3'ish. Got roughly 50 minutes sleep, then off to Newcastle airport for the flight home.
I'm now knackered! :dead:
only made worse by Nick having a spare standing ticket in his pocket 
But I have to say it was a top night. Seen The Stranglers twice the past week and it topped that !!
