Yep, i was the "bootlegger" in question on that night, Hooky failed in his attempt to wrestle the tape recorder from my hands at the front..i'm sure i've gone into this somewhere else on the web...
just been to the Newcastle gig, fucking amazing, lost half a stone in the mosh pit.

Only my second NO gig,first Manchester Apollo last year, have to say it was excellent. As with Manchester I caught Hookys drumstick,but again, gave it to the bird next to me 
But I have to say it was a top night. Seen The Stranglers twice the past week and it topped that !!
Even Hooky said we were all lively

i wasn't expecting that much fun.
but is there any chance you guys could help me out with the abbreviations.
I love new order but as with all of my music i tend to listen on the move and don't get time to learn the track names, never mind the abbreviations, whilst driving.
got talking to a guy who'd seen them 4 times before [which again isn't that many] but he said it was the best he'd seen them play.

i had a great night, there didn't seem to be any of the usual f*ck ups that you get when new order are playing, BUT i wish they'd vary their sets..for a group with such an extensive back catalogue, they wheel the same tunes out, time and time again..how many sets, over the last 4 years, have they started off with crystal?

Quality night out, as always. Gig was a good 'un. A 'proper' venue, unlike Bournemouth, and with a sprung dancefloor too. Walked in from the back and just thought, "how the fcuk are we gonna fight our way down to the front through that lot?". Proper packed out it was.
Wish they'd mix it up a bit more though. I don't mean throwing in loadsa esoteric stuff which they've not played in donkey's years, but a slight reordering would be nice. Setlist was way too similar to Bournemouth. At times it did feel like I was just stood around with me mates in a club having a natter with a band playing in the background (well, foreground in this case).
Hope someone here got a picture of Andrew and JT together. Am sure no two teachers ever looked that hard when I was a nipper! 
Aftershow was infinitely better I thought, than the gig itself. Much more of a larf and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves even though Hooky, just like his band, does play the Same Old Shit in the Same Old Order at each and every outing! Top blag by Alex to get a dozen of us in gratis and lovely to see Hooky and Sarge driving off in their quaint little Ka in the wee small hours!
Why the f--- me, JG and Nickos decided to sit up for yet another hour when we got back to the hotel is beyond me though, seeing as me, JG and Don were on 7am flights and Nick an hour earlier.
I think I'm gonna starting feeling really shite once the coffee finally wears off.
Hope they play These Days every night - it's a lost classic and really benefits from a COME ON free NO reworking.
I wonder if they'll release a NO version for the Control film release?

It's a turn of phrase, Nicos. I don't mean the songs are 'shit' but they are playing (roughly) the same at each and every gig, therefore they're playing the 'same old shit'. Doesn't matter if you see them once, or a dozen times, you know what's coming, give or take a few songs.
It's the same for all bands these days surely?
What is important for me at this point is I'll hear a set featuring no less than 5 new songs from what I heard in May 2005...
What's unexcusable is to do the same set on multiple night at the same place, so if they don't change the Glasgow setlist at all, well... that's sad, but it's expected they will do the same, they're not going to change now are they?

Tried posting this earlier, but NOOL went into meltdown, so here goes again (copied and pasted back from Notepad)!
Top night all-round - here's my attempt at a write-up (seeing as though Shug got some kind of excuse for not turning up - i.e. work! 
)!
Okay, met up with Al, JG, Wolfram and Don at Heathrow, only to find that the bloody plane was delayed by about 20 minutes due to the recent thunder storms in London... Any old excuse... Finally, took off an hour late, so we touched down in Newcastle at around 6pm.
Checked into the hotel, only to find out that I'd booked my room for 11th November - DOH! Luckily, the hotel had a spare smoking double-room for the same dough - that was close!
We all decided to watch the remainder of the first half of the England vs Croatia match at the hotel, and then grabbed a cab to the Centurion pub at the station to watch the second half (to meet some of the Darlo Order), and watch an extremely poor England side get beaten 2-0 - good ol' Paul Robinson and his attempted clearance! :p
Anyway, onto the gig - got to the venue and met up with the usual suspects at the door - Big Clive, Pompey Order, Old Monkey, John Sludden, Welshcake, etc (I'm crap at remembering names - somebody else will need to fill in the gaps!). The venue felt like a proper venue, compared to the "school assembley hall" in Bournemouth a few days before - i.e. loads of people, proper stage/bars - just the right kind of atmosphere (even though there seemed to be a distinct lack of gents toilets in the venue)!
Setlist was virtually identical to Bournemouth (and has been posted in this thread), but with the addition of "Guilt Is A Useless Emotion" (with female backing vocals on tape, of course, as no female singers on stage). All in all, to summarise the gig, the band seemed to be enjoying the gig better than Bournemouth - more smiles on stage, as the sound seemed to be a lot better (probably because the acoustics in Bournemouth were lousy).
Post gig, we finally met up with Digi Mike (he only had a seating ticket, even though he'd ordered a standing ticket - funny thing was that I'd had a spare standing ticket that he could have had for free! )! Still, at least he seemed to enjoy it - I blame the lack of a haiwaiian shirt that day! 
Anyway, off to the chippy (with lots of gravy - the way chips ought to be eaten), then off to a pub for a quick pint and then deciding to go to the Hooky DJ After party just down the road.
We arrived just as Hooky was starting up - he was having photos taken with a number of different fans, signing stuff, and playing his DJ set (content not a surprise to those of us who've witnessed his sets in the past, but a pleasant surprise to those who hadn't). And, anyway, with the number of New Order-related mash-ups/remixes in the set, a great time was had by all. This ended around 2'ish.
Got back to the hotel soon afterwards, and proceeded to stay up until 3'ish. Got roughly 50 minutes sleep, then off to Newcastle airport for the flight home.
I'm now knackered! :dead:
