Heathrow shuttle

You're probably looking at 40 quid absolute minimum for a taxi from Heathrow to Central London, Nic... More if you're going to be travelling at rush hour... Depending on how much luggage you have the Tube is actually the most direct route for you, as Covent Garden is probably the nearest stop to your hotel, which is on the Piccadilly line, same as Heathrow... Otherwise coaches and trains are going to mean that you'd have to change somewhere in Central London or try and get a taxi...

Unless you want to see your holiday money rapidly disappearing and your blood pressure increasing, don't even think about a cab from Heathrow to the Strand. Get the Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station from the airport, and then the Underground (Bakerloo Line) from Paddington to Charing Cross. Your hotel is about 400m from Charing Cross station, turn right at the front of Charing Cross station and keep walking down the Strand until you get to your hotel. The Heathrow Express (£20 or thereabouts) will take about 20 minutes to get to Paddington, and then it is simply a case of going down the escalator to the underground (right in front of the Heathrow Express platform), get a single ticket to Charing Cross (£2.50 I think) then follow the Bakerloo Line signs (the brown one, turn left when through the ticket gates and go down the escalator, cross onto the right side platform for a train (destination Elephant and Castle) and get off at Charing Cross. Your hotel is then just a short walk to the right when you leave the station.

As for Euston to Wolverhampton - you'll be with me, so that won't be a problem to find everything.

Yep, wise advice Nicos seriously dont even contemplate getting a cab from the airport it will be an absolute fortune and you'll just be stuck in traffic for hours.

Train it to Paddington and then get the Bakerloo as Timbo suggests, you havent even got to change lines so it should be a breeze, if however your not feeling brave or awake enough then get a cab from the station to ya hotel which shouldnt take more than about 20mins.

Nic - may be able to come and meet you at Paddington if you get the Heathrow Express to there. Can't get to the airport in time though.

Another post here to advise *NOT* to get a taxi from Heathrow to Central London - to give you an idea on prices, it cost me 11 quid just to get from Kings Cross to Paddington on Wednesday afternoon... Heathrow is a lot further...

Heathrow Express is painless - 15-20 minutes (once you get to the platform) and get the "Non-Stop/Express" train into Paddington. And, then follow Tim's advice about the Bakerloo line.

Whether your hotel room will be ready at that time in the morning (or by the time you get there, rather) is another matter (as you say) - a lot of hotel rooms don't allow check-in until after 2pm...

Don't worry about it, I started having my latest cold/chest infection last weekend... The next day was the Bournemouth gig, followed by the Newcastle gig two days later...

You don't even need to get the Heathrow Express if funds are tight. You can buy a one day travel card, at that time of day, just over a tenner. Option 1: get a Piccadilly line to Leicester Sq tube - 5 mins walk to the hotel. Will take about an hour on the Underground Option 2: Just get a regular train from Heathrow to Paddington using your travel card. This is not the Heathrow eEpress but only takes another ten minutes as it stops at Hayes, Hanwell and Southall. The from Paddington get a Bakerloo line underground to Charing Cross and you're there. Total hourney time 40-50 minutes. You can use the same travel card for the rest of the day for tubes or buses, to Eusston or anywhere else. A black cab is £50 these days.
