Your services are required on Blue Saturday to film the bands for the official DVD!

Holger was going to film it all for us, but he's had to pull out, so if anyone does fancy a go at filming the bands, we'll make it worth your while. The plan is to put out a DVD of the event afterwards, copies of which will be sent to those who bought "virtual tickets", and copies will also be on sale through the site as a permanent record of the event.

Basically anyone who usually sneaks a bit of video footage at NO gigs, come along and find yourself a good unhindered camera angle (contact me beforehand and I'll sort you out press passes). There will also be plenty of good photo opportunities, you can take pictures if we can use them, simple as that!

When it comes to video...I dunno....it sounds to me like syncing the audio to video the old fashioned way could be a huge pain, especially with multiple cameras.

So..who's got the Sony Betacam with SMPTE/EBU striping built in? (and even if we do have that, the audio will need to go down on a DAT (stereo Dat with timecode, nothing ordinary), or a laptop. UNLESS, the camera is near the desk and can have a direct feed piped into it.

If we can't get someone to film all the way through, my plan was to use what we can get and intersperse various stills at times, with the soundtrack in the background. Arty but a reasonable workaround.

Key to having several cameras all filming will be to have people sticking to a certain angle of filming, rather than panning round and trying to take in a much wider shot. Stick to the one line of shooting and we'll be able to put together a quality product. I've got a producer lined up who will also be on hand to give any tips on getting the best from the filming, and who will explain what he is looking for.

Just thinking, the desk is upstairs directly in front of the stage (at the back) so we could have a direct audio feed into a camera, yes. That would certainly help with synching. There will be mains power for cameras too if that helps on batteries.

Some local authorities insist on this (as we've found to our cost!).

Cheers Dave, they've already said that there is no problem with our recording the event with the intention of selling the recording, they are happy with this given that it is for a charitable cause.
