I have to appreciate his 'performance' seen as I had to spend Sat am chauffering Alex around South East London searching for fancy dress shops to find said beard!!

I have to say, seeing this photo in a sober state that it was worth the effort.

I do however have bad memories of him sticking his tongue inbetween the moustache and beard.

that's above and beyond the call of duty, ness. very brave.

the image of the tribute wise was perhaps the highlight of evening for me. it summed up so much of what the evening was about. nailing down the holistic feel of the event and our communal involvement in a referential and reverential manner. I've been taking those morley pills again. it was also piss squeezingly funny. our al was just one of many contributions that made this home-made event so much more than just the sum of odd shaped parts. monty in bunches, the merchandising crew of noolers and noolettes, the resident photographers, the flying faders of cambo, the WAGs, the travelling order, the moshers as well as the bands....

two other highlights for me: decades the sight of peter hook standing there with the amateur 'faketory' laminate and orange twine waiting to go on ["13 minutes...13 fookin' minutes!!"]

and a special nod to the comedy merchandiser whose favourite flavour is no longer orange but raspberry
