I am not aware of Lydon owning a TV Cable company. If he chooses to invest his money in real estate, thats his business and I have no issue with it.
Lydon is not going to stay poor forever. The man has been making albums and touring for the better part of 30 years. Of course he is going to have money. At least he is honest about it. Not like Joe Strummer, the born wealthy middle class son of a diplomat who pretended to be working class. Lydon may be crass, but he is honest.
However.......
I do love the Sex Pistols, and I would go see them if I could....
But I think that Lydon is taking the easy way out. I always loved how he pushed the boundaries so much with PIL, and with his 1997 solo album...
Since then, I have eagerly been awaiting a new solo or PIL album and tour from Lydon.
Instead he just reforms the Sex Pistols every few years to replay the same 15 songs we have heard a zillion times.
However.....thats his choice. Who am I to criticize John Lydon? He is one of the most influential and pivotal figures in music. He changed the face and world of modern music. He owes us nothing. All the music that the Pistols and PIL were part of.....English Punk and Post Punk....thats the music that i grew up with, and it means the most to me.
I am sure the Pistols will put on some amazing shows this fall.
But, in all honestly, I would rather see Public Image Limited. Any day of the week.
