Thx, for this rumour, Nick. Now I know, why I haven't found a room mate yet. But I really think, that was Arcade Fire's Rhythm section.:D

I didn't know about the hill - sorry.
It's still not an all-day festival and you have to stand on concrete to watch the bands.
I'm not having a go at it. Just saying.

No need to apologise - you're perfectly correct! :)
When you're hungover/knackered, however, the hill is a godsend! :p

I won't be snoring...
(Does My Arse Look) BIGINTHIS wrote: Anyone thinking about this should bear in mind that it's not really a festival like you might be used to for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, it doesn't stay open all day. In fact, from memory the thing didn't open until something like 10pm and the bands weren't on until much later than that. The headliners were way into the night and bands were still being timed to come on stage at 4am. So it's not the sort of fest where you chill out on the grass with a beer all day before watching a couple of bands and then get the last train home. Which brings me to the second point...
With the exception of the geezer outside who was selling marijuana cheese on toast, there is no grass in the festival. The site is entirely concrete.
Like any other festival, the beer is warm and expensive and comes in paper cups.
I'll be there with bells on. I love Barcelona and I love going away in large groups to get drunk in the sun and I don't really like sitting on grass. I usually find something to do whilst the bands are on too.
You could've saved yourself a lot of typing and just said, "It's more civilised!"

Who did you see in 2006 then? I've just looked at the line up and the only bands worth watching would have been Daft Punk, Bell Orchestre, James Murphy, Hope of the States and Sparks. And maybe Mystery Jets, Captain, Belle and Sebastien and Sigur Ros, at a push. The whole line up just reeks of indifference.
Compared to the mighty line up of 07, Arcade fire. Editors, Chemical Brothers, LCD, OMD, James, Kaiser Chiefs, Air, DJ Shadow, The View, Jarvis, etc etc... No contest!
Booked flights to barca, yesterday.we staying 6 nights from we16.july.i´m looking forward to see you all, again.prost Danny (bundesorder).

I will NOT be going in any Irish bars at any point of the extended weekend.

Any particular reason? ![]()
Because, quite frankly, i'm not travelling hundreds of miles to go to a really shitty pub which is even worse than the scummy Irish pub on my street.
I also think thats its very very wrong to go abroad and refuse to take on any of the culture.

Very true!
I'm personally looking forward to that Tappas bar at the end of the Ramblas - that was a great meal! ![]()

On the Thursday last year, we went to this square, where we sat there until 1am drinking some local beer and frightening amounts of spirits.

well, i am not a massive Belle and Sebastien fan, and the few times i've seen them have done nothing for me. Never Sigur Ros but i'm not a fan on of them on record.
Conversely, last year the five songs of The View I saw were fantastic. Maybe it was a one off...

Its not a bad line up, but i'd never watch the Mondays or New Order again. Wasnt the Chemicals a DJ set? And the Long Blondes? Lets just say... Once and Never Again! Although they do have an extremely fit lead singer... ![]()
don't think many of us will see new order again liam!
really enjoyed the long blondes, they were good at electric picnic too
