FACOZ

Can anybody help me? Attention Mr Discography, My LPs of Unknown Pleasures and Closer are published by FACOZ and not Factory Australia. Is this a new variant? And does anybody know more about Factory Australia? All I have from them is an official list of albums, singles and vidios by group. Must have come out in about 1990.

Was under the impression that FACOZ was just the prefix for catalogue items from Factory Australia, eg FACOZ 1003, an Unknown Pleasures poster released by GAP records under licence, distributed by EMI Australia. But I might be wrong... CTB

there is a website i found thta had this info on it- The Australian Factory history starts 1980 with a company named Gap Records, who originally distributed Factory in Australia and having the backing of EMI Australia.

The way Australian records were made, was by Factory sending tapes to Australia, where the vinyl and most of the sleeves were made.

Sometime in late 1981 Gap Records switched to being distributed by CBS Records (whereas distribution in New Zealand always remained with EMI) and subsequently the first 12 inches were released: Love Will Tear Us Apart, Atmosphere, Transmission and Ceremony.

July 1985 then saw the official start of Factory Records Australasia, based in Sydney and run by British expatriate Andrew Penhallow (probably Gap Records was merged into the new company; confirmation needed). Factory Records Australasia soon becomes Factory's most successful foreign offshoot. All records were manufactured and distributed by CBS and some of the later releases even bear a CBS catalogue number.

Late 1989 or early 1990, Factory Records Australasia ceased to exist (with Penhallow continuing his other label Volition) and Factory's entire catalogue moved to Australian company Festival Records. Apparantly, Festival re-issued every Australian Factory record released so far and continued with the new Factory releases, but using their own numbering system.

ha ha-nah im not Kram form Spiderbait or the other 2?? cant remember there names?? but i am named after them! its a cool name....i think so... and the other answer i have no idea?? its kind of cool though that Australia was there second biggest place that they sold alot of records....Factory i mean...

kool....I have this FACOZ1003 poster in my living room, its silver ink printed on black paper...thanks for that, CTB, now I know the history behind this darn thing I stared at everyday....:)
