Technique- The band

Like the name seems to indicate a New Orderesque band. I read about them some time ago. The reviewer was paying lots of attention to the fact that one of the members was the wife of the owner of Creation Records but he seemed to generally like their CD and he indeed said that it was better than Electronic´s Twisted Tenderness. Now, I have never managed to listen to them, and never have they been mentioned in this forum. Anyone knows them? Are they any good? Do they ever tour?

Technique: the duo, remind me a bit of the following bands - if you've heard any of these, then you'll have a fair idea of what to expect, sound/style-wise.

1. Dubstar (Petshopboys/New Order/Smithsy)
2. Frazier Chorus (limp-sounding light early 90s indie - the other girl in the band is an ex-member of this lot)
3. Cocteau Twins (just some vocals, probably)
4. Peach (another electro-pop trio featuring producer Pascal Gabriel, they scored a massive hit in the states with "On My Own" but never hit it back home here. Their LP from 1998/9 "AudioPeach" is okay, in a derivative kind of way, but you can find the CD in many second hand stores going for less than three quid)

I believe Technique sound like a fusion of these. They did a few gigs that got some press - the papers were pretty divided though I understood the Melody Maker raved about them back in their pre-teen-glossy days. Nobody knows exactly what they're up to today, whether or not they are still recording or whatever...

(Anyway, not too keen on them - give me the divine Saint Etienne anyday.)

I remember them getting decent reviews in the MM as a very PSB sounding band. I expect they were one of the many bands who were f*cked when Creation went belly-up. This was probably due to Alan McGee giving record contracts to mates and family. i.e. his wife (who was in Technique), Ed Ball and his dad!

Aaaaah....good old Ed Ball. He toured as keyboardist with The Boo Radleys on a few of their tours as well.......

Technique have signed to a major company (I am not quite sure, but I think it is v2) and re-released an older single (from 99, orange sleeve, don't remember the name). Yesterday, they were supporting Depeche Mode here in Athens. If you ask me, another boring uninspiring girl band. You should better listen to ladytron, they 're much more interesting............

Now Martin, (what a cracking band Saint Etienne are!) this one´s more difficult. A group called Pearl, a mix between New Order´s rithms and Cocteau Twins´ vocal armonies. Ever heard of them?
