Kamar Khan and I were discussing the possiblity of organizing a weekend of events in Chicago to coincide with the release of COMMUNITY. We're hoping to get as many NOOLiners to come to Chicago. Below is a tenative itinerary. So I'm interested to see if any of you all would be interested in participating in an event like this. Feel free to comment and add any ideas you may have. Also, if we do go through with this event, then we'll be looking for any COMMUNITY bands willing to perform for free at this event.
If you guys don't know kamar yet, he lives in chicago and has a great radio show every monday night. He also does some promotion work. He will be able to pull everything together and organize this event.
New order weekend 2004
1.Location: Chicago IL USA 2.Dates: April 15-18 (subject to change) 3.Why Chicago? : Chicago would be a wonderful place for a New Order weekend because of its unique culture, numerous attractions, and exciting nightlife. It is also conveniently located in the Midwest, so no matter where you are coming from (with the exception of outside the USA) it can be relatively cheap and easy to get to.
Schedule of events: (Tentative)
Thursday: New Order tribute CD (Community) listening party @ the Heartland Café. This café has great food, all types of drinks, and a cozy bar. Perfect place to meet other New Order fans and to kick start the weekend. (No cover/All Ages)
Planet Earth: Chicago’s oldest night club. Catering to the New Wave/goth/Industrial scene. Thursdays are New Wave from the late 70’s to 1987. You wont hear BLT or Blue Monday here, instead Dave Roberts tends to play early New Order like original version of “Temptation” or “5-8-6”. Open till 4am and located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park area. (21 and over. $3 cover).
