I remember at the Tower Ballroom gig in 1986 someone leapt on stage grabbed the melodica and dived back in the audience. They never played any songs needing it Maybe they would have it it hadn't been knicked :D

There's a legend here in Brazil that Barney threw his melodica to the audience in Maracanazinho Concert in Rio de Janeiro.

Having seen the setlist, there were none scheduled ! He'd got at least three melodicas by that stage anyway.
