1.Do you expect New Order to play another Joy Division songs on their next setlist?Which would you like ?

2.Do you think they won't play Joy Division songs live anymore ?

My answers are :

1.Yes.New Dawn fades,Disorder or Shadowplay would be great to be heard.

2.No,they are part of their repertory now.

Well yes, they will carry on playing them. I'd guess that they won't introduce any different JD songs to the set though, maybe reintroduce H&S and Isolation. I'd love to hear Decades, or maybe Shadowplay. As long as they give up on Digital I won't mind though.

I'm sure they will, and any JD song will do for me as long as Barney stops the screaming

Can't imagine New Order will be that arsed to practice any new Joy Division tracks. They've done all the really obvious ones now, haven't they? Bar New Dawn Fades, of course. Which would be nice. Defo like to see Isolation back again too.

True, though it would actually be quite good to hear Colony with two guitars (eternal optimist even after 20 years of disappointment !!).

Personally, I'd be surprised if there AREN'T any "new" JD tunes next time round - I think they've been bitten by the nostalgia bug, and I put my vote in for "Disorder". Agree 100% with Mr Jarvis about "Isolation" which sounded wonderful in its '98 (re)incarnation.

But Tim - you no like "Digital"??? I thought it was the pogotastic highlight of 2002!!!

It was completely fucked up. They totally lost the point of the song, which was to make a claustrophobic panic attack, and instead turned it into this plodding pedestrian thump thud thing. The bass was too full and boomy, Steve hadn't bothered to re-learn the drum pattern. A total and unadulterated mess. I've farted better versions of Digital than they did at Finsbury or Old Trafford !

Now that I WOULD pay to hear!!

I can't imagine Barney singing them, but I would pay for a travel to anywhere if I knew they would play songs as New Dawn Fades, These Days and Something Must Break. Underrated songs that were played once or twice. I could pass without hearing LWTUA, SLC, Transmission, Atmosphere... It would be nice ot hear something different. But as Tim said, too much optimism...:(

Great track  I've never really liked Digital, personally. Way too simple and repetitive sounding.

24hours will be very great.

and yes they will play JD tracks within. i think they took 20 years to stay behind those songs and now they feel free to play then - with dedications to mr. ian curtis.

check out finsbury dvd...

Hum, I still wait for Dead Souls... altough I doubt the song would sound the same with Bernard on vocals.. (spirit of the song I mean)

They could also do These Days...

I have a few other favorites there that could be played, like No Love Lost and Disorder... why not Shadowplay?

I want to hear Disorder or Insight!! But I always love Transmission. Could live without LWTUA, Digital and SLC mind you. What I'd really like to hear is some Movement stuff, let Hooky sing lead again for Dreams or Doubts!!

personally I hope they stop playing JD songs and dig up some of their own forgotten past (hurt, everything's gone green, chosen time, too late...etc etc)

I'll throw in and also say they should get into their older stuff (1981-83ish) from Movement and the following EP.

Hell, they should just copy The Cure and play Unknown Pleasures, Closer, and Movement in their entirety. I'd fly to Europa to see that. :p

"Welcome to the atrocity exhibition...WOO!!"

I've just recalled that I did a poll on this subject almost one year ago. The poll got dispersed votes but the winner was "New Dawn Fades".

Which JD song should NO bring back to the setlist? (Another successful search ;))

well if their sound is after all coming around to the sound they had on those Joy Division days it would be natural to play JD songs on the set too. Or would it?

Apparently. Also features Jim Morrison doing a duet with Ian.

What about reviving an old chestnut like Warsaw? In my opinion it's good enough to stand next to their more well-known material (a bit punk-ier than they're known for).

And I agree that they're on a nostalgia kick so JD will continue to be part of the act. I'd also like to see some early NO revived for the stage, but it's doubtful.

The Cure played Unknown Pleasures, Closer and Movement? Fuck me - I certainly missed that. Or was it just one of Robert Smith's dreams that they did that - presumably before all being eaten by spiders...

New Order should play a complete trilogy of albums, like The Cure did, and those 3 albums would be the best.

To fairly compare to the Cure's trilogy, New Order should make a box set consisting of 'The Rest Of', 'Republic', and the second disc of 'Substance' as a trilogy

Are you insinuatin' that Substance disc dos is BAD? Come on now. It's got IALP (best one on there), Procession (extremely good), Cries & Whispers and Hurt (pretty good), decent remixes of BM/Confusion/Thieves, Lonesome Tonight (terribly good), Kiss of Death (excellent remix), and 1963. The only really bad one on there is Shame of the Order.

I like most of the songs, but Kiss of Death, Shame of the Nation, the Thives Like Us Instrumental, and the Confusion Instrumental really irk me, but I agree that IALP, The Beach, 1963, and Procession are awesome tracks, but that does not make up for the lackluster instrumentals and Kiss of Death.
