Working song titles

Reg brought to my attention that the working title of As It Is When It Was was Bullet In The Head. Had not known that prior to today...

Not necessarily Julio, Tim's explained this a couple of times (can't find the thread tonight, drat it!)

Not sure why this happened on the first pressing of the US cassette version of PC&L, but the tracklisting for side two is as follows:

KWI, Ultraviolence, Only The Lonely, Leave Me Alone, The Beach, which means that the title has also been interchangibly used with Ecstasy.

I knew it as "Things We Do" 18 years ago...

It was introduced as "Bullet in my head" on this unknown venue recording previously known as "Aus/NZ 85". I've never said or thought that this was ever a working title. Barney has a habit of making things up on stage - does this mean it was also called "Fromage et Petit Pois" ?

Sam, this list of yours isn't right.

"I've a One Time Girl Who's Called Me Back" is a load of shite, whoever calls it that hasn't heard properly what he says at Nagoya. It was definitely "I got a wank off a girl with a spotty back", and at the end of the song he says "the girl who gave me the wank played the drum machine on that song". He'd already used the song's correct title by then in any case.

Death Rattle and Little Dead are 100% definitely the wrong way round on your list. Little Dead is Denial, no doubt at all. Taras listing (ok, forget the ICB error), setlists, live introduction.

It is important to differentiate between Barney adlibs on stage, bootlegger titles and working titles - working titles that will appear on demo recordings, set lists etc. Can you draw this distinction on the list please, as it is rather misleading.

Re. Note 2 at the bottom of the page - it was introduced once as Bullet in My Head, not twice. Al's evidence of "Things we do" is the title a bootlegger gave it on a tape, nothing more. The same applies to Aleph, Obsession/The Japanese One (both Face Up) and Solitude (Skullcrusher), which are all titles given by bootleggers rather than by the band.

Where did you get the Let's Go working title from ? It was only ever called Let's Go prior to 1994, and has never been played live with lyrics. Barney introduced it as Let's Go on at least two occasions.

I've deleted the spurious TBTHOG joke title. I have seen Death Rattle/Little Dead reversed, but have them now listed so that Death Rattle->Chosen Time and Little Dead->Denial

Okay, I've moved this in the appropriate category. I've also moved "Sustenance" (Sunrise) as I think this too was a bootleg label, rather than a proper working title.

I have no idea why I put (new vesion) in there. I've deleted it. As for "I Don't Care", maybe this was given out as a joke title at some point, but now I'm not so sure.

It did appear as that on the track listing anyway (and also appeared as 24 Hours Part II on the St.Austell recording I picked up, as ours missed Face Up as we forgot to turn the Sony Pro back on for the encore !)

There's even a transcription (that was a right pain) of Sustenance...er, Sunrise. It's interesting to see bits of lyrics that later show up in Face Up, which at that time also had scratch lyrics.
