Has anyone any idea how Monaco got their name? Just thought about it the other day & wondered if there was an explaination.

Is it Monaco that recently had a vote to give the Prince absolute power? He threatened if they didn't vote for him he'd leave and take half the place's wealth with him, or something like that. So now its Europe's only despotism.

Is it Monaco that recently had a vote to give the Prince absolute power? He threatened if they didn't vote for him he'd leave and take half the place's wealth with him, or something like that. So now its Europe's only despotism.

You'd have to be fairly daft to want to give Prince absolute power. Everything would be painted purple...
