Shameless reproduction of my post from JD Central - likely to reach a wider audience here...

Having just downloaded the 2 1/2 songs from Bowden Vale off SoulSeek, there are a few things worth noting: First, the intro to the footage has a 10-15 second montage of late '70s consumer advertisements, followed by the gig footage, which has the caption "A pub in Altrincham/a suburb of Manchester" "Directed by Malcolm Whitehead" and "Shot on Super 8mm". Do these bits accompany the Substance video "release"? Also, at the very end, there's a tiny snippet (of about a second) of some dark footage with what sounds like Wilderness being played - this seems, after checking the setlist of the "Factory Video Night" at Heaven in 1982, to be taken from the UP rehearsals also shot by Whitehead (since the video of Wilderness shot at the Apollo had already been shown earlier that night). This being the case, surely we can infer that the complete Whitehead film is out there, and not only that, but quite probably in the hands of the webmaster who hosted the clips a few years ago (think the address had newdawnfades in there somewhere). Any ideas who this was, any current email addresses, etc.?

Second, a fairly obvious point, granted, but since the audio footage of the What's On She's Lost Control exists, complete with broadcaster's voice-over, then surely a home recording of the video footage exists (notwithstanding the possibility of the master having been damaged in Granada's leaky store-room)?

Have you tried to find Intermission ? :D

Yes, the intro with the adverts (including a closeup of something for the Factory Sample, if I'm not mistaken) is on Substance, plus the titles scrolling across the bottom of the screen. Leaders of Men is cut off by a cut to a hammer going through a TV screen.

Shameless reproduction of my reply on Joy Division Central...!

Yup, those bits are on the Substance video. There's a snippet of Kraftwerk's 'Metropolis' played over the advert montage though I must admit I've never noticed 'Wilderness' at the end of the last Bowden Vale song... These videos (together with most of the rest of Substance) were hosted on a site called New Dawn Fades a few years ago.

I think if the What's On footage had survived then Wilson would've included it in his 'The Way We Were' program in '86. I'd guess from the 'unspectacular' quality of the audio that it was taped at the original broadcast time...unless of course Intermission's got this too!

Well, the Bowden Vale footage is knockin' about (in Real format, sadly), though I guess this has been around for donkey's too. Do a search for "Joy Division Bowden Vale" and it should come up: my SoulSeek username is the same as on here, and I'm online at the mo'...
