I know this album was released as part of a three album contract NO had with London records but who here thinks it should of contained other original NO material instead on remixes of songs on the Best of album?

This is what I'd have on my Rest of album.

Ceremony, Procession, Temptation, Age of Consent, Leave Me Alone, This Time of Night, Sub Culture, Paradise, State of the Nation, Mr Disco, Dream Attack, Everyone Everywhere.

Well, my unequivocal verdict is that (THE REST) OF NEW ORDER was simply the most pointless of all NO album releases, serving no useful function whatsoever save that of pissing off the purists with the usual cack-handed remixes-du-jour and a few oldies thrown in for good measure. A complete waste of time, the only New Order record I do not possess, and , to paraphrase the popular lingua-franca of "dance" music; ABSOLUTELY INESSENTIAL! like you suggest - we should all compile our own compilations on CD - I myself already have done, many times over!! And so have others!

No...no..Martin. It's not a complete waste of time, that 'Rest of' album....it was meant to sit on the CD racks right next to( or below/above ) the 'Best of' album...this way the CD covers complement each other rather nicely...and it'd bring out the brilliance in Saville's work. And if you put these two with the US 'Best of' ( cover with light blue ? ) and the limited 2-CD edition of 'Rest of ( red ? with light pinkish backgrd )...then all of us, CD cover-art afficiandos', could have the ultimate wank...

Yeah, so the cover is kinda cool and intended to complement the first (blue) compilation sleeve, but so what? The contents are dire and in this case I hold N.O. plc responsible for inflicting on us the very first case of "Nice Sleeve, Shame About The Record".

PS...I WILL STAND BY THIS OPINION UNTIL THE DAY I DIE!!!!!!!

I fully agree with Martin - with the excpetion of the tracks already released, The Rest of New Order is Shit.

Actually, there is one good new remix on that album, and it's the Touched by the Hand of God remix...

it's no too bad but true faith is the best mainly because it isn't so different to the original. world is also pretty good but i can't say the same about any other remix.

Except it's not a new remix..

I was going to say something profound but nobody listens to my opinion anyway..... :(

Yes that TBTHOG mix by Biff & somebody Memphis? ( are they actually the bunch that re-vamp that Eurythmics/Annie Lennox song? ) is pretty good....I remembered playing that mix through my office sound system and received compliments from a 55 year old colleague...he said it had very thumping beats...almost tribal... hee-hee

The Rest Of If you like hearing classic songs put through a mincing machine 15 times, and then come out the other end a completely different song with no relevance to the original...This is the album for you

TBTHOG remix was of course slightly altered and in the charts as Public Domain's 'Bass in the Place' offering...can't be arsed to remember it's full name coz it stunk.

The Rest of, I thought, couldn't top the Best of which saw a pathetic 'Let's Go' as the starting track!!!!!!!!!!????????? - I mean, what the fuck was that?... how could that have been anyone's 'BEST' song???!!!... anyway, little did I know what the boys had in store with 'The Rest Of'... holy shit mother what a fucking disaster.

Perhaps they should have called the albums...

'Some songs that aren't really the best and the best one's on this album have been tampered with anyway'

'Shite Hawk except the Fire Island thing'

There's 2 versions of the Best Of. Only one of them has 'Let's Go'.

Shirley the best NO remixes are the Sabres 'Slow and Low' and 'Fast and Throb' ones. They never left my record box for about 2-3 years, especially when there was a chance the sun was coming out and I'd be able to bathe comfortable in the knowledge, I wouldn't have to disturb myself for about 2 hours to turn the fuckers over.

Those aren't on my copy.

Only the US import. The UK version was worse in fact, having a most hideous bland mix of 1963 on it.

There's a lot of garbage on Rest Of, but I vote in favor of the Touched remix.

Haven't picked up Rest Of yet, and like I said regarding the cyrstal remix discussion, not a big fan of remixes, so I probably won't

Well, six years on, I'm still not going to touch it with a ten mile bargepole.
