Which is best?

This is a really dumb poll, I realise, but every thread at the moment seems to mention these two as the best New Order songs (sorry Shug, I know Temptation gets mentioned a lot too, but there is no "third way" in this poll).

So which do you think is the better of these two? No other options available.

After long deliberation, I've decided that the Substance version of TPK is indeed the best New Order song ever. It even beats the 12" version because the slightly slower one flows better. It is a brilliantly layered and complex song that rises to a wonderful climax and then sprials down to a full stop at the end (unlike the shamefully edited Low Life cut of it).

Dream Attack is pretty good, but nowhere near compares to the Substance version of TPK.

This was very hard for me as I do love both songs, but I had to choose TPK.

yah right...choose between the 2. it's like deciding if ya want death by having your head on the block or death by guillotine  :jawdrop:

The Perfect Kiss.

But a REALLY difficult one to decide on. TPK has been there much longer.

And like a fine wine, etc., etc......

That's not to say it doesn't/won't apply to DA.

Perfect Kiss by a mile (and I see it's winning 11-0 after my vote!).

Absolutely no competition.

We've done this to death but the top two tracks always come down to Perfect Kiss and Temptation, with Ceremony forcing a close 3rd. Don't think Dream Attack's even come close.

This is like comparing sex to cleaning toilets.

Bit of an one-sided poll, this ?

What if it was bad sex and really nice clean toilets (with free beer while you do the cleaning)?

..., no actually I'd still take the bad sex.

Hahaha. Alken voted for "Dream Attack" in an effort to try to make some sense of his poll.

But if you remember Substance Survivor a few months back, Procession got into the final three just by getting immunity a whole bunch of times. Not entirely an undeserved achievement, I'v always thought it an underrated gem and it was also the first NO song I ever heard (as Ceremony was a JD track etc. etc. yawn...).

Sob! It's all true!

I'm happy to be back to being in a misunderstood minority anyway.

I happen to like both songs a lot, although Dream attack inst marred by an edited album version.

Technique is definitely my favourite album, and I love Dream Attack. However, as stand-alone tracks The Perfect Kiss is far superior to Dream Attack. It's The Perfect Track.

For me Dream Attack is a good track (although IMHO it falls foul of the weak production which runs though several of the tracks on the album...or was it an intentional effort to erase the memories of the over-produced Brotherhood?) but THE PERFECT KISS kind of summarizes everything which is (or was?) cool about NO. The initial track was given a go way before the finished version (The Royal Festival Hall attempt was OUTSTANDING) so you could say many grew into the track before the final cut and what a final cut it is. A masterpiece and the what seems a 30 minute musical ending could go on for another hour if they so wished it to be and each time I hear it I go back to gigs like The Powerhouse in Birmingham or indeed that evening in aid of the Miners when Decades was played better than I have ever heard before.

Why oh why did they have to cut the Substance version of TPK short? Just imagine all those new fans out there who have not even heard the proper version? Shame.

True, and as far as I recall Temptation has come up as the best NO track each time in the several 'best song' polls there were in the past. Having said that; TPK is my favourite New Order song, I still remember when and where I bought the 12 inch and playing it obsessively for weeks. It's the track that made me a New Order fan.

I picked Dream because it's on possibly the perfect summer album, Technique.

I can't listen to TPK without listening to at least the Substance version, and I have to hear the whole thing from beginning to end. Dream Attack is brilliant and is a quick fix, and easy on the ears of the almost-NewOrder fan.

So Dream Attack it is :thumb:

I love Dream Attack and have been impressed by its popularity with others on NOOL - esp given that it was never a single etc

But TPK is a masterpiece and has to get my vote.:thumb:

Dream Attack is a good track, but TPK is a total classic, top three for sure.
