I brought the Shellshock 12" back from the States way back in 1992. This version is longer than any other I've heard and has an extra verse in it. Does anybody know anything about this?

It's merely the original 12" version that lasts about 9.40 minutes or something.....and it's boring as hell. But not as bad as the 12" of "SubCulture", mind! "Substance" actually featured edited versions of the full 12" mixes of Perfect Kiss, SubCulture and Shellshock. ;)

The version on "Pretty In Pink" soundtrack also has the extra verse, despite being shorter than the "Substance" version.

I think they got the edit right on 'Substance' - the 'Pretty In Pink' version has that nasty fade-out, and the 12" mix has far too many chorus repeats at the end!

The 'Substance' mix of 'Shellshock' is my favourite all-time New Order song, although I know many here would disagree with my opinion!

Andy.

9 minutes and 40 seconds is way to long for such a crap song.

40 seconds is far too long for this blot on their history :evil4:

I love Shellshock - reminds me of Molly Ringwald - teenage fantasies - BTW any version of Subculture apart from the LowLife one is bloody awful - No wonder PS didnt want to do the sleeve!!

It's a piece of crap, really. One of their worst, for sure.

And those Molly Ringwald references just have to go. . .

Don't understand some people. Shellshock is excellent, a song that could nearly play itself. All I can say is that you obviously haven't play it live, some of the things coming out of the speakers were unreal, and as for Barney's guitar solo...... :thumb:

Oh come on. The courus from Shellshock was powerful, was it not? I think it's a decent song. Though I also like State Of The Nation, Slow Jam and Chemical so...

Mine is supposed to be a limited American edition. I think they all were.

i agree with cosmo, shellshock is appaling imo. in fact i binned it shortly after buying it. i remember the riverside interview with barney saying "we dont want fans to just go out and buy our records,we ant em to buy em if they like em. if u dont like it dont buy it". i wish id took his advise on this one:uhoh:

What is so bad about Shellshock? It has a good intro and a good chorus. Now, Fine Time, Run, and World in Motion on the other hand...
