Did anybody else notice 60 Miles An Hour being played in the Vic last night? Who picks that stuff?

A pal of mine back in the UK says that NO have always been popular on many different BBC shows. 'Popular' does always not equate to 'good' as is perfectly illustrated by Eastenders.

Does anyone remember the Turkish taxi company owner called Ali? Well, years ago I was lucky enough to be flying Virgin Upper Class and I found myself sitting behind him. I chatted with him for a while and he is such a nice guy.

I can also remember there being talk that a picture or painting in Arthur Fowlers house was the same as a NO design. Can anyone confirm if it was a NO associated design?

Actually, I was thinking more "east end boys and west end girls."

Does anyone in the States get Eastenders on their public television? I used to watch it every Sunday night but haven't in a month or so. The last time I saw, Gary Kemp was still on, and some woman was killed, I think he did it and this young boy knew the secret.

Sad man that I am - stopping in of a Friday! - but, yes, I did spot it.

Years back there was a series of short 15-minute documentaries about "behind the scenes" types at the BBC. One week they had this lad on who was responsible for supplying the music for God knows how many programmes - he started at Grandstand putting music behind footy montages (New Order always featured on a regular basis; and "She Bangs the Drums" was on football focus (or whatever it was called in 1989) for about six months when they did their goal round-up bit...) before he moved onto a higher position with broader reach. He had something to do with "Vanishing point" being commsioned for "Making Out", I think. He said that the beeb just left it up to him, and he had the enviable job of sticking his fave tunes on TV.

I've always assumed he's still there, hence The Queen Vic's infamously Godlike jukebox (how many East End pubs have Galaxie 500, Throwing Muses and obscure covers of "Love Vigilantes" played on them?).

I could be wrong, of course.

He did go through a disturbing Manics phase a couple of years back though.

I remember the EastEnders episode where Billy and Jamie Mitchell were having a fight in the snooker club - for some reason 'Failures' was being played on the juke box!

lol. bit of a rarity hearing NO on a jukebox, but it did happen to me once, one night out in Colchester circa 1990. They had JD Substance on the jukebox... I played it all :D
