I wouldn't have thought an old poster would be worth so much.
Bloody hell indeed for that price, only paid 5 dollars for mine. Jeff, you'd best be real quick if you come steal mine, mate! ;)

yes indeed this is the poster in the vid. seeing the price quite freaks me out. i used to own lots of posters including the one in question. paul cons used to nab them when he was hac manager and bring them for me and my bro. a few went up to sheff uni with my bro and a few went with me to my first house..we had some fantastic and pretty rare posters...all now lost during the passing of time and infamous family trait of not looking after anything !!!
Not being an expert in such things, I'd have though the price wasn't too outlandish (if it's authentic, at least) given the age and symbolic importance of that show.
What have you paid in the past for elderly gig posters, Al? (If that's not considered a rude question, of course!)

I've got a lot of posters in the 60-80 notes range. And I've seen a couple of posters go for close on 100 notes, but nothing anywhere near this much.
The only posters I've seen go for over a ton were JD gig posters and the New Order Berlin 1981 poster which actually has the line 'New Order were Joy Division on it' so can only assume that went for song because of that line alone (although I picked up my copy for a tenner a couple of years back)..

I wouldn't buy a reprint. There's no value in them whatsoever. Well, not any that I can see.
I picked up a G-Mex 88 for about 60 notes recently. 5ft silver job with the orange circles? I didn't even realise there was a poster available at the time so was well pleased to pick that one up after all these years. All my stuff are originals - and some of them are a little worse for wear with ripped corners and what-have-you!!

Thought you'd have 'em all in nice glass frames, to be honest!! Your G-MEX one sounds nicer than mine: the one I have is the same size but it's bright fucking orange with white circles, and lists the date/venue/acts playing, plus has a photo of the band (circa 83-84, I think) sitting atop crates of Becks. It's wonderful, but ugly as well - cost me a few girlfriends I can assure you!! BRIGHT ORANGE!!!! Put the blame on them '88 vibes, I guess!
it is a great poster though.
i wouldnt mind getting a reprint of this - not bothered about the value & whereas want the originals for the vinyl etc, for posters would rather have pristine for the wall than tatty original.
anyone know anywhere selling them?
Problem I find with the posters is are they the genuine article or not. When I was at Uni you were able to get all the posters as reprints for next to nothing. I remember ripping a poster off the wall at a Glasgow gig in about 1985!! I knew that one was genuine!!

Fcuk me, if I had a time machine I'd go back to Noo Yoik in 83 and buy up every single poster I could at that gig.

That was the point that was bothering me - who authenticates these things???? Certainly if I was handing over £300 I'd want to know I was getting the real deal.....

Seems not, been mailing him and he's a sound fella. His attitude is simply that if it's still in a box after 20 years then does he really need to keep it? Says he's got far too much of this stuff anyways. Wish I had that problem. He officially sells photos through a couple of art gallerys and he's also prepared to sell direct some of his New order photographs. However, the prices we're talking made me whince somewhat so I doubt he's short of a bob or two.
Paul, seems ebay have removed the photo of the 86 poster, but it wasn't much to look at anyways. The support appeared to have equal billing with New Order (same font size, I think?) and if memory serves me right it was something like peach and brown text on a white background, and not particularly pleasing to the eye..
it looks like my copy has gone for good.:(
i had a copy of this poster alongside the perfect kiss poster and a french gig..( i think )..with a background of the true faith remix sleeve..( coloured leaves ).
i remember when i moved into my first house about 13 years ago i shoved these posters under the bed at my parents house.
a pointless call made to parents last night.." but we have had 2 new bedroom carpets and a new bed since you left" was the gist of reply.
i still made my old man go up the loft and check the garage.
alas the call came back today..no joy
there's one of the paradise garage posters on the wall at vinyl revival in manchester, though I doubt you'll get colin to part with it.
