Long drives and reflections

I do a lot of skiing and I listen to the mighty NO during those very long drives. Simply a beautiful band. Great mistique and technique. Great thoughts come to mind when listening to all their songs. I listen to MOVEMENT when cleaning my classroom at the end of each day. Here to stay and regret to start my voyage up route 3. I saw them on the technique and republic tours and revenge and monaco at a tiny Boston club. I hope to see them again,however, the music is still fresh each new day!

First time I heard Get Ready was driving from Zurich Airport to Freidrichshafen in Southern Germany. It came out the day before, but I deliberately didn't listen to it. I'd even had the presence of mind to record it onto cassette in case the hire car didn't have a CD player (which it didn't as it turned out).

Got to listen to Turn My Way whilst crossing Lake Constance on the ferry, which was nice...

NO and JD are the only music in my vehicles. Otherwise while driving I will listen to the news.

Yes, NO does sound exquisite whilst driving, especially on long trips, and there have been some classic moments for me in that regard. The biggest one, which I've told here once or twice, is the 13 hour drive to the Bay Area in 85 for my first NO show, and while the sun is just beginning to rise and I'm hitting the suburbs of San Francisco, the low-key early morning DJ announced that NO would be playing that night in Oakland, and then played Everything's Gone Green for the fans. Hearing that, after the all night drive, sent a huge shiver down my spine, one that has rarely, if ever, come close to being duplicated. Hi Brian, it's still a lovely story, innit?

I had a great JD tape I made, from the Warsaw album up to some live stuff from '80. But my car's tape player ate it about a year ago

Shug sent me some good JD/NO tapes, and I hesitantly put them into my car to listen to once or twice, but I didn't want to risk another disaster so they remain in my room.

If memory serves correctly, I think I posted something on this subject before, but I definitely agree, NO is the best music to drive to.

I always have a cassette on in the car (not always NO/JD but about 90% of the time), except when I'm on my way to work. At that time, 8pm onwards, TodayFM Ireland is pretty good. Well, 8-10pm & 10pm-1am is anyway. After that it degenerates into chart shite, so on the way home it's cassettes all the way.

The usual top 3 songs are Here To Stay, The Perfect Kiss & Temptation, with Leave Me Alone starting to make an impression. Although the last week or two has seen the tape with Low Life/Technique albums get a lot of use.
