just wondering does anyone know if marr and sumner had fall out. the reason i ask is because why didnt sumner ask marr to play back up guitar on their last tour or their new album to be release(whenever that is). my guess would be that sumner didnt want hookys feelings to get hurt:laugh:

Hasn't Barney lost Johnny Marr's phone number several times?

Actually, it's all true...I've kept it a secret all these years, but now that the truth has reared it's ugly head, I shall let you all in on this secret I've been keeping...

in 1987, I had the chance to interview Barney in a, until now, secret interview...Barney, as usual, was pissed out of his mind...and at one point, he said "Johnny is only the second best guitarist in Electronic, but since I'm gonna be busy with forgetting lyrics and what, I'll have to allow him to play his jangler."

We agreed that this secret could never be revealed, lest Johnny would get his feelings hurt...I mean how much can a man take???

Fast forward to 2001...me and Barney both get e-mails from someone claiming to be the best bass player in the world...but we know that can't be, cuz I have never given Hooky my e-mail addy...anyways...the anonymous e-mailer sends us both a copy of the interview...and demands a ransom of season tickets to all Celtic home games...and a crate of lager...

suspicion immediately is heaped upon ShugzV...anyways, we couldn't come up with the ransom, as Barney was busy playing on his yacht, and, well, I won't tell you what I was busy playing with...

the interview was leaked to Johnny, and now you know THE REST OF THE STORY...

this is all true, but don't ask Barney to confirm this story, cuz he always denies that he's ever spoken to me...we had a little spat over the best footie team in England...him and his Man U. delusions...everyone knows that they wouldn't stand a tinker's chance going up against the side from Sheffield Wednesday...

So, is that why they both seem to be playing guitar in the Forbidden City video?

Really, on how many Electronic tracks does Barney play guitar?

Don't expect Electronic to ever go away. It fits their comfort zone. When all else fails or no one else from NO is up for music making and/or production, Barney and Johnny can slip away and go lock themselves back in the basement and play PSB. You can believe that Barney is always dreaming of "other" music that doesn't fit the NO format. I have no doubt that there's still lots of beautiful Love Boat lounge music left in this viable collaboration.

When no-one else from NO is up for making music? Surely that would only be if Hooky was dead (or involved in a tragic quad-bike accident).

Someone asked JM about the future of Electronic on his site (in the Q&A section - #9). This is his response:

Johnny :" I'm glad you like the Electronic stuff. We had a good time making it. I don't see us doing anything in the future somehow. I think Bernard and I did everything we were gonna do. If we were to do an instrumental - cinematic- soundtrack thing that would be good as it was something we never got round to but had an affinity with. Gotta move on though."

He also said something about releasing an Electronic greatest hits album in the future.

well barney deffo plays for about 2 seconds at the start of the 2nd verse of the 2nd track from twisted tenderness as he sings 'and as i press upon myself a form of torture'

there, in the background you hear him play like he is in joy division again. just a snippet but enough to put the hairs on the back of my neck on end.
