New Order - the back catalogue!

Does London Records have the entire back catalogue - I mean everything Factory had? Is anything seriously missing? Any recordings that nobody seems to have??

Well try and buy a new single. It seems that London Records will not put them out other than in a compilation. Even new singles such as Here to Stay only seem to be availiable in shops for less than 6 months

Ah yes it is also my understanding that London Records have the rights to their whole back catalouge. I don't know how long for or on what terms the band signed with them. In the Factory days after all it was the bands that owned their music. I hope New Order still own their music and only have sold London records the right to publish it.

Not Run2 or MTO though!! The masters were either burnt by John Denver's lawyers or "damaged" at Factory depending on which version of the story you believe.

Well, if they still own their back catalogue (which I very much doubt, due to 'International', 'Retro', 'The Best Of...', 'The Rest Of...', etc.) there may be a chance for LTM to jump in, if what they say at the label's website is anything to go on:

Viewed as a whole, the catalogue became somewhat Factory-centric... ...the Factory catalogue was neglected by the label itself during its lifetime, and afterwards fell into a complex legal limbo following the purported sale of the back catalogue to London Records by the Official Receiver.The true position is that all Factory-associated artists owned the copyright in their recordings save where a written agreement provided otherwise. It took a fight to assert those rights, but once resolved, LTM were free to licence the material direct from the bands.

I'd imagine London Records have the rights to New Order's back catalogue, due to the higher potential sales they would have than, say, a Revenge reissue. Whether they will rerelease anything of note remains to be seen.

Can anyone actually confirm that any master tapes still exist after all these years, and the 'Unknown Pleasures'-in-the-skip fiasco of the Factory demise?

I couldn't care less about Run2s master now I have the record! But why would they destroy MTO? - odd! Now I see PFD is on DVD in Japan would it be too buch to ask for some re-releases here (on DVD and CD of course!). I am particularly after Substance 1989 on DVD but all the videos on a DVD would be better!

london have it all, and much more in their vault (including live videos taped by the band, unreleased mixes and demos etc)

I've been told by a manager at one of the Big Fives that, in general, a single these days is only a promotion tool for the album, and that the profit is low, if any. The same goes for video-compilations or live videos - they are mostly there to satisfy the fanbase since the ROI and revenue is very low (compared to an album).

Still, I'm begging the London, Reprise, Rhino, or whoever, to re-release the Factory videos on DVD. That would also stop the bootlegging on eBay.

Well at least Run if not Run2 is still availiable on the Best Of and Technique.

I agree put out a Singles DVD compilation. Come on London Records, Warner Brothers etc.

It's not Run2 it's Run on Best Of - it's mislabled. The only place you can get legit Run2 is on the 12" and the DJ 7" - I think!

Im not a big fan of Best Ofs but instead of another one itd be better (for fans) to see the singles released on cd singles - right from Ceremony,with all the original artworks & tracklistings. It`s what rob gretton wanted for Recycle.

Ive never seen a technique video:( apart from the clips on 3:16. the trur faith vid looks great too!

If you go on eBay there someone in the US selling a best of DVD,17 different vids. Quality is good,only stereo & 4:3 ratio mind. But its only $10.00. Their NOT genuine releases but 511 could`ve followed on from 316 & included PFD or Academy. They are also selling NewOrderStory.

That's it. That's exactly what we want (and indeed what was promised). All tracks, and all versions, including edits and videos, in two boxes.

I'd go to a shop today and buy both of them, no question.

Surely this is the sensible thing to do?
