Deducing the Favourite NO track of all time - part 2 - Power, Corruption and Lies :music:

Here is the next poll in the series - a little earlier than planned due to work commitments tommorow.

This was always a tough one for me, as my favourite songs off PCL aren't the best album versions. As the question asks about the album, rather than the songs of the era, I have gone with Leave Me Alone.

gone for Age Of Consent. But Tim is perfectly correct in saying that the songs from that era in live form were far better than the album - We All Stand, Ultraviolence, 586, YSF

i also chose LMA but several songs on this album are worthy. Age of Consent, Your Silent Face and Leave Me Alone are amongst my all time fav. Neworder songs.

Over the past couple of months this has been the most played cd i have, i would now place it above both Technique & Low-Life as my fave one by NO

I voted Your Silent Face. Though 586 was close behind.

Your Silent Face for reasons I have stated before in other posts. As others have said, PC&L versions are not as good as the live versions. We All Stand is a song I HATED until I heard it live. Now I really appreciate it.

I picked Age Of Consent...what did Bernard say at the Tolworth gig? "Another fast one for all you bollock brains..." is what I've always thought it was...but between KW1 and LMA, it wasn't an easy choice. Oh, does the bit between The Village and 5-8-6 have a proper name?

All the songs on the album except for We All Stand are great stuff, but I had to go with Age of Consent, though YSF and LMA were close.

AOC, however always thought they sucked on record. The live experience was always better.

Yeah - it does - it's called - wait for it - 586. ;)

Your Silent Face for me, just shades it from Leave Me Alone and the hugely underrated Ultraviolence. Never really like AOC. Sacrilege I know.

Went for 586, though it could've been any of 'em off this absolutely majestic record. Would have been AOC, but the god-awful extra synth note Gillian plays on the live versions has tarnished my adoration of the song somewhat.

AOC since it's the second best album opener NO has, second to Love Vigilantes

IMO The Village and Ultraviolence are underated tracks. Can remember the first time they played them live and I thought they were chuffing amazing with the Brixton Ace being one of the best occasions back then. Not all of the album worked live for me (Leave me Alone NEVER worked for me anywhere...like a bad effort from a 6 form band) with 5-8-6 always a highlight and Your Silent Face was awesome when Hooky actually played the right notes at the right time.

So, from an vinyl perspective my vote goes to THE VILLAGE.

"Leave Me Alone" in typical end of album stylee (no, I won't be voting for "Face Up" before anyone asks). I must say that both AoC and YSF are also big favourites. A couple of years ago I might have voted AoC.

Blue Monday is sitting pretty on the US CD so it's not here - UK album versions only.

This is probably the toughest album to pick for me. There's so much top notch stuff on here. Seems a bit ridiculous to pick against YSF, but I went with The village nonetheless. Bouncy.

The Village, love that bouncy sequencer part near the end. :D

Went with "The Village" too. It is hugely underrated and is one of my all time favourites - EVER - Classic happy/sad NO.

Although I voted for the village, it was a tough choice between it and your silent face. The village is just the happiest song they ever wrote.

Incidently they've played your silent face at every one of their shows I've been to... (all 3 in fact!) 23-5-85, 4-2-87 and 18-1-02.

They don't come down to the end of the world too often!!!

Even more strange - I've been to check this on the net and I'm wrong - I was taught this at university and I used the song to remember it. Now 17 years later they tell me its: something-7-5or6.

^&%$ this, lucky I didn't base my life on this assumption. Bloody Marine Biology professors...
