To be quite honest, I'm surprised the NME even remembered that JD ever existed, seeing as they're up The Strokes' asses at the minute.
It's part of a 'Live Fast Die Young' (or something like that) series of pictures...the others include Kurt Cobain, Jeff Buckley, Jimi Hendrix and others that I can't remember. It's linked with their cover picture and feature on Sid Vicious, presumably to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the break up of the Sex Pistols - perhaps they should have concentrated on one of the important members of the Pistols (i.e. the other 4!) rather than their buffoon...
Actually I think it's to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Mr. Ferocious' death. It's all a bit lame though, really.
