Where can I find some definitive lyrics for Dreams Never End? The various versions I've seen online quite obviously get a few lines wrong.

Compare the DNE lyrics at WorldInMotion.net to those on this site's Resources section, for example. I realise that they're a bit hard to make out, but's not impossible!

Problem his, nobody knows for sure, and the band usually have the nerve to change the lyrics between versions.

I wouldn't be surprised if the lyrics on the Peel Session version were different than Movement, and then live...

I know for sure that Temptation is often completely different!

Best way is to get help from the Community, I'll cut and paste what we have here (which is mostly from the late Ceremony website) and we'll work on it.

OK, let's work it out then. I'm working from the album version, but falling back on their performance at Tolworth, UK on 20 March 1983 when I'm really stuck.

My promise could be your fiend

Change to "My comments could be your theme(s)."

A given end to your dreams

This is pretty close, although it could also be "And give an end to your dream(s)".

A simple movement or rhyme Could be the smallest of signs We'll never know what they are or care

No question here.

In it's escapable view

This doesn't sound right. It could very well be "And that's the statement or view" but it sounds like "And then just take a poor view" to my ears. :confused:

There's no escape so few in fear

Close enough.

Give in a changing value

Definitely wrong. This is either "Day made a change in value" or "Debate a change in value".

To be given your sight

OK

Hid in a long peaceful night

This should be "Hid(den) in a warm peaceful night".

A nervous bride for your eyes

Could also be "A nervous cry for your eyes".

A fractured smile that soon dies

Yep.

A love that's wrong from your life and soul

Definitely "A language drawn from your life and soul".

A savage mine had begun

"A sign which might have begun" sounds far closer.

Hello, farewell to your love and soul Hello, farewell to your soul

This could be correct, but I think it's more likely "A long farewell to your love and so / A long farewell to your soul".

Now I know what those hands would do

Very tough to make out, but the quoted line here is definitely not right. I can hear "Now I know what was meant to do".

No looking back now, we're pushing through

Small change to "No looking back now or pushing through".

We'll change these feelings, we'll taste and see

I'm really not sure. "The change it seems in taste or scene" has been suggested elsewhere.

Again, the lines here are very close. "But never gets loud or he would scream" works a little better.

I'm sure I read in another source that the first line went:

"My COMMENTS could be your theme..."

or is this yet another one of those deliberately ambiguous lines?
